As of this post, Square Enix will be sending out the first wave of alpha test acceptance letters to fans who applied. If you yourself applied via the game’s official entry form, keep an eye on your email in the coming hours to confirm your acceptance. If you are not selected, worry not, as multiple waves will be planned! For those accepted, know that the official alpha test will begin on or around November 28th, so be sure to follow the provided instructions and download the client ahead of time.
Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn‘s alpha phase will extend into the end of January/early February, with the PlayStation 3 version being staggered a bit later. An updated roadmap (a.k.a schedule) will be provided soon to give fans an idea of how alpha and beta will progress. Producer Naoki Yoshida has stated that these times will be subject to change, given that they intend to deliver a product worthy of fan expectations and the Final Fantasy name.
