Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII producer Yoshinori Kitase updated the game’s official Japanese Facebook page to give us a small look at the game before it’s unveiled again at Jump Festa later this month. Here we see the title screen for Lightning Returns (right) as well as a bit of text reading: “world is ending”. As we previously detailed, the third and final chapter of the Final Fantasy XIII saga elapses over thirteen malleable days before the world ends.
One question the team poses to players is thus: “how will you spend your last days?” In the world of Novus Partus, Lightning’s actions manipulate the flow of time itself — those actions may speed up or slowdown the doomsday clock, but the end is always looming on the horizon.
Motomu Toriyama returns to direct Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII, along with Isamu Kamikokuryou as art director, and Yuji Abe as lead planner. Masashi Hamauzu, Naoshi Mizuta, and Mitsuto Suzuki will be back to compose and arrange the game’s soundtrack.
Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII will release for PlayStation 3 and Xbox360 in 2013.
Update: As per the image below, Kitase confirms a new trailer will make its debut at Jump Festa.
