It takes a village to raise a child — or in Bravely Default: Flying Fairy‘s case, it may be a child who raises a village. One of our four protagonists, Tiz, strikes out on his own after his hometown of Norwend Village is destroyed. Well, all is not lost it seems, as you’ll be able to take part in a mini-game to rebuild the village from the ground up.

The 3DS’s StreetPass and SpotPass will play an intrinsic part in managing Norwend’s growth. As you mingle with other 3DS owners, the population of your village will increase to a maximum of twenty. You’ll even be able to grow the town’s economy to a point where you’ll be able to purchase equipment not found anywhere else in the game.

The fifth and final demo for Bravely Default: Flying Fairy is now available on the Nintendo 3DS eShop, with previous versions being taken down. The newest demo features some of the new features we’ve heard of the last few weeks — summoning, Abilink, and Norwend Village.

We’re just one month away from the Japanese release!

[14/09] Four new jobs for Bravely Default: Flying Fairy

This week’s update for the upcoming Bravely Default: Flying Fairy release introduces four new jobs that our four protagonists can use on their journey. Of course, that means there are four new jobmasters to reveal as well. Known as the Black-Iron Blades, they are Etrania’s first army Division. Swordmaster, Pirate, Ninja, and Chemist are introduced (as well as a reintroduction of Superstar), all of which will be available as jobs.

Kamiizumi is a Swordmaster, calm and collected, and is prestigious enough of a swordsman the enemy can respect. He is sent to intervene in a civil war against overwhelming odds, and was previously seen sparring with Idea in a previous Bravely Default demo.

Captain Barbarossa is a Pirate and a master of the axe. He is Kamiizumi’s lieutenant and is known for his hearty laughter. During the civil war he has been put in charge of moving goods and troops by sea.

Kikyou is a Ninja and excels at being stealthy. She is ruthless and wields two Kodachi blades. Her talents have all but gone extinct in Luxendarc, and she seems to have a smoldering hostility towards Barbarossa.

Kusurishi Kada is a Chemist who is described as arrogant, apathetic, and full of hubris. He has been tasked with seeing after civilians caught in the strife, but seems to be concocting some sort of poison — and perhaps plotting against Kamiizumi.

Pudding (Purin) A La Mode is a Superstar (previously revealed) — a cheerful idol that has been given the role of rallying on soldiers in the civil war through song. Soldiers who hear her song will charge the enemy, unafraid of danger or death.
