I've wondered about this for a while. Supposed Aerith's Holy Gospel in Advent Children just cured the Geostigma, and Cloud still has Jenova cells. How cool would it be if he could control it? Like out of all the monsters he fights, he could pull an Angeal and use their biology against his...
What makes you think they'd change the tone? If anything, they could flesh out aspects of the game. Imagine Final Heaven using modern graphics, or Cloud's mind rape in the Nibelheim in his head. Hell, imagine the ending in HD. I't doesn't have to change it. They could make it better.
Well, considering she...
1. Can sense "the flower girl" at the end of VII.
2. Is one of the few characters shown to never get geostigma and, by extension, fall under the control of whatever Jenova has become now.
3. Brought up Aerith again right when she was active in the lifestream.
4. Has a...

Well sure he's done some bad things, but JENOVA was involved. No matter who was pulling the strings all that time, its cells do make people crazy. I mean, that could have been Cloud doing all of those things, or Angeal.
Now, I know that they get along great and genuinely love each other. However, I can't seem to recall any actual romance. It just seems like a conventional assumption made just because Clould's a guy and Tifa's a girl. Word of god may have stated otherwise, but so far I've heard nothing.
