I always thought that in all the final fantasies 9999 was the max HP (I guess x-2 was an exception) but I noticed a few days ago that if I have a character with 6k HP and then a bubble belt on, when the monster hits for 1k damage I still stay at 9999 HP, so it's like...going above the 'limit'...
