I think a better person for FFVIII's cover (instead of Seifer) would have been Laguna or maybe Ellone. They played such key roles in the game, more so than Seifer, in my opinion.
Ok, so this has been kinda buggin me for a while, and I apologize if it's already on a different thread or something.
But, I've noticed that some of the front covers of final fantasy games don't really fit the games themselves. They depict characters that don't necessarily appear in the game...
FFVIII's intro FMV was fantastic back in the day. Really exciting. The intro mission wasn't all that exciting, but the first real mission - the assault on Galbadia - was absolutely fantastic. I loved that taste of military style story. It was super cool.
I've been running the circuit to get into medical school for the past few months and I'm currently going on interviews. For those of you not familiar, med school interviews are typically a whole day long. The interviews themselves are about 30-60 minutes long, and you usually have two during...
Ok, so I finished this essay, and I gotta say, this one was pretty awful. But, some of the concepts raised were fairly interesting so I'll share my thoughts.
I view art as something with a baseline for judgement. The baseline is created from certain concepts/ideas/aspects that a majority of...
I'll be honest, I always thought that Squall should have ended up with Quistis. She was the better girl. She was smart. And pretty. Rinoa was just...the typical sorority girl. Quistis was real. Plus she really cared about him. And Rinoa seemed like she made Squall do shit he didn't want to.
Ry, I used cloud as a hitter, true. But I honestly didn't assign roles to each character, which is one aspect of the essay that I didn't agree with. The author makes the point that the customization of each character's role in a typical battle molds and shapes our perspective of the...
I think the turning point for me, when I decided that he had no hope of changing his tune, was when he poisoned Doma. I remember when that happened, I was like "OH shit. this guy is into some seriously evil shit." I suppose I took the "easy way out" by not acknowledging the fact that from a...
Ry, it's interesting that you said you expected cloud to be less stand-off ish. I actually felt the exact opposite. My cloud, from FFVII, was much more distant than your cloud apparently. I think what really did it for me was the whole "..." responses he would give to many questions, etc...
Awesome that everyone seems to have slightly different viewpoints on this issue. Here's my take.
First off, to be honest, I identified the least with Kefka out of every final fantasy villain I've ever come across (except, of course, in situations where they change the main villain for the...
Time for Essay 2 kiddos. I guess maybe chapter 2? Eh, no biggie.
Anyways, here's a quick synopsis of the second essay. The main topic is whether or not Kefka is insane. The definition and purpose of labeling someone as insane are explored as well as the history of the label. The resulting...
don't be dumb. you can easily win money at casino's. Of course, the odds are always in favor of the house (excluding games like poker where the house doesn't actively play), but in any single game, the odds of you winning aren't all that bad. It's when you start compounding games, and...
Absolutely. FFX and VIII are much more customizable with respect to what your character does. But, I feel like often times, people end up putting characters into the roles that the developers have sorta pre-picked for them. I don't think anybody made Lulu a hard hitter in FFX. I'm sure 9...
Rydrum - excellent rebuttal, man. Your points are all totally valid. I agree that some of these chapters are probably going to be pretty awful, just because of the whole "introduction to philosophy" thing. I was hoping that the book would be more focused on looking at final fantasy through a...
Yes! A thousand times over, yes! But it has nothing to do with games. It's the same reason why guys are attracted to girls who play/watch sports. It's about being able to connect with someone about something. Like, if a girl kept talking about rainbows and ponies and myspace.com (obviously...
right. gotcha. thanks guys. I guess I was just confused as to why there was no minimap, since I just got done playing FFOrigins and in both FF1 and FF2, you can access a minimap in the game. But I suppose they probably put those in for the port, and they're not there in the originals. I...
I agree. But I found this particular part of the book was kinda pointless. Well, maybe not the way he presented his argument, but the overall underlying concept itself. Of course videogames are going to be interactive...duh! The fact that you identify with the characters and define them...
Sorry Lebreau, my fault. Incidentally, you wouldn't happen to know the answer to my query, would you? :)
Mod edit: Not a problem, and you didn't need to post telling me sorry. xD It's perfectly alright.
I have not a clue. It's been too long since I played FFIV =[
