February 2010?! I thought it was coming out this November! :( Boo.
Anyway, I'm really looking forward to it. It seems pretty original, gameplay-wise, and Mitsuda's soundtrack ought to be good.
I liked summoning in this game a lot more than in others, where they just performed an attack and disappeared. I found them to be quite useful throughout the game. They where good for getting overkills on bosses, or just wiping out some of the more annoying random fiends.
We don't know that the original characters won't be in it at all. But, personally, I'd like this game to take place several generations after the last one, to give Weyard a chance to adjust to the release of Alchemy. Also, I wouldn't want to play as the same characters because A. we've already...
I found the sameness of all the characters kind of annoying. I did try to vary them a bit by giving them different equipment and making each one focus on a specific branch of magick - white magick for Penelo, arcane magic for Basch, technicks for Vaan, and so forth.
I've heard that the remake has a New Game Plus feature, but I haven't heard what it entails. It seems that it's not just starting the game at your previous levels. Does anyone who has beaten it know what material is available in subsequent playthroughs?
According to Wikipedia, the prices are:
Chapters 1-3: 800 points
Chapters 4-10: 300 points each
Chapter 11 (final chapter): 800 points
That's $37 total, which is less than what most new games cost.
Basically, the plot involves the reappearance of the Lunarian moon and a mysterious and obviously evil girl who is collecting the elemental crystals. The main character is Ceodore, the son of King Cecil and Queen Rosa, and most of the playable characters from the first game are playable, as well...
The first one, which I think is required to play any of the game, is 800 points. The smaller installments are 300 each. I'm not sure what the final one will cost. And it's 2D, similar to the GBA version of FFIV.
I'm kind of surprised there's not a sub-forum for the sequel. Anyway, who else has played it? I just finished the first installment, and I think it's shaping up to be as good as, if not better than, the original. The story's good, and I love the band system. What do you think about it?
It's about people called Adepts with supernatural abilities called psynergy. One group of Adepts wants to restore the power of alchemy to the world so that psynergy can be used universally, and another wants it to remain sealed for fear that it could be used to wage war. For more detail, you...
I guess it would have been the soundtrack to Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End by Hans Zimmer. I thought it was great. Themes from the first two movies are supplemented nicely with a couple of new ones. Definitely a great buy.
No, Kiss Me Goodbye was sung by Angela Aki. Melodies of Life was someone else.
Anyway, my favorite is Eyes on Me, particularly the Aki version. Melodies of Life is a close second.
The plot was about releasing the sealed power of alchemy upon the world, which happened at the end, so theoretically anyone can use psynergy.
Also, the creatures you're thinking of are called Djinn, and they weren't relevant to the plot.
