If you want the full story behind the FFX sub-series, then yeah, may as well get the full experience. Otherwise, I'd say no.
It lacks so much of what X had. Feels like SE threw something together, really, and gave it little depth. My biggest qualms are the shallow, somewhat-irrelevant story...
I went in reverse, so: Aqua, Ven, and then Terra.
- Aqua was by far my favorite, so that's the main reason. I guess it was the Keyblade Master title and magical prowess that got me hooked.
- Ven was fast, and had some more-than-unique abilities.
- Terra actually wasn't as bad as I'd...
Wait, Yuna's a good mage character? Oh dear...
Anywho, I've found Kuja to be my mage. Great at combos, distance, and Ultima is a godsend for both versions of Feral Chaos.
You kids underestimate Exdeath, but that's not the point here.
Vaan is, well, lame, boring, etc. Gave him chance after chance, but my inner gamer was telling me "Fail" the whole time.
In all, he's just a very underwhelming character. His HP attacks take too long to "charge", and his Brave...
Not that the first Dissidia was terrible, because it was far from, but this installment is quite the improvement.
Pros: More Characters, World Map, more "Shops"
Neutral: Quest Creation
Cons: Assists
Yes, I think Assists are unnecessary. While some may find they "add a new dimension" to battle...
Crazy, Stupid, Love
Not just another romantic comedy. It is, but isn't. You feel as if it's real people, going through real "love" problems, whom you could realistically connect with. It has more lighthearted humor as well, but you can tell there is a serious undertone throughout. And lastly...
Give me boobies, fellas.
No, seriously, I'd rather have a balanced cast of males and females. I hate the idea of a damn-near sausage-fest in most of these entries. No joke.
The only handheld title I've found worthwhile is Birth by Sleep. On par with KHII, IMHO.
Frankly, though, interquels are starting to run their toll, and I hope SE wraps them up quickly. KHIII needs to get underway, and not take as long as Versus XIII to be released.
