I definately agree, that Final Fantasy VII is by far overrated, with the shallow characters, the weak, convoluted plot...I couldn't get into it at all. Compared with the earlier Final Fantasies it was dramatically weaker, even 1 which started it all. Final Fantasy Tactics which came out later...

My first time was on the NES. It was my first experience for an RPG at all (followed quickly by Dragon Warrior), and I must say that I loved every minute of it. I remember playing this game and having AC/DC playing in the background, staying up oh so late just to beat it.
