Here's mine:
Edge (FFIV) - Ninja and all-round coolness, plus his Throw ability will help lots.
Locke (FFVI) - Thievery and jack of all trades, he's a great back-up tank
Basche (FFXII) - Tank - He deals damage and lots of it.
Rydia (FFIV) - Summoning and Offensive Magic - Offensive to the core...
I have never played II, III, V (although truthfully, I started a game, I don't think playing for 5 minutes counts...), Dirge of Cerebus, the PSP FFVII prequel thingy, X-2, Crystal Chronicles, XIII-2, FF Tactics Advanced. I'll probably play the first three I mentioned, but I doubt I will play...
I will agree that FFXIII my least favourite Final Fantasy. The story is atrocious, the characters abysmal, and the gameplay is boring. All in all, it adds up to pretty damned terrible.
I find XII to have the best story of the numbered ones. I just liked the way the world seemed bigger than the characters. As well, it seemed a lot more geared towards an "adult" mentality than the other games. It was told more subtly than the ham-handed attempts of most of the recent FFs. As...
The only "spin-off" I have enjoyed is Final Fantasy Tactics, and would like to see a real sequel to that game. I don't generally play any of the others, as I find them to be too pandering, and no real substance.
Of all things, I would love to see a new sprite-based game. There old games had a charm that hasn't been replicated.
As far as sequels to the aforementioned games...I would like to see another Chrono game. I never really got into the first one, but loved Chrono Cross for some reason. I...
You misunderstand...I would put them both there. Garnet is not quite as bad as some of the other characters on the Shite list, and she's definitely less than Mediocre, the same as Rinoa. They're both equally Garbage. ;P
You could be right. I probably did rate Rinoa too highly...Maybe I need a new Tier called "Garbage" that rates above "Shite" and below "Mediocre", heh.
I think it's her proclivity to put herself in terrible situations that need rescuing, not because of interesting plot reasons, but instead because she is just naturally retarded, and also ungrateful when she does get rescued.
Yes, I understand that she's a "spoiled princess" kind of character...
If you like XIII, play X. If you like a game that requires you to have the semblance of intelligence and maturity, play FFXII. ;)
Sorry, I didn't find the characters, world or story interesting at all in FFX, and the gameplay was a resounding meh. At least most earlier FF's had exploration...
So this is a few months later, how much further did you get? I ask because I finally sat down to play FF13 myself this past weekend. I had bought it for the girlfriend when it came out, but she grew disinterested after about 10 hours, and it sat collecting dust on my gameshelf until I took it...
Unfortunately... :)
I'm just hoping that someday the legions will wake up from that nasty nightmare that they are having and discover that there are indeed far better games out there than FFVII and what it has wrought upon the world...
I always liked the crystal idea, and I wouldn't mind if they brought them back. Just update the story based around them to be more believable and it could turn out fine.
I'm afraid Gafgarion and Algus are far better villains than Sephiroth could ever hope to be. The same with Kefka (he at least succeeded at what he wanted to do).
