The battle you're all talking about is meant to be a joke. Note how Genesis is exhausted after you beat his Avatar Genesis form. The Avatar Genesis is meant to be the real final boss.

i liked it. the only thing that kinda pissed me off (and relieved me at the same time), was when i started playing the DoS version of FFI, and i didn't know that Square made it able for you to save inside dungeons (since you couldn't in the first one), and i went all the way through...
