I'd recommend starting out with FFVII. It's really a great game, and will give you a feel for what the FF games are like. Though, it's a challenge, you'll enjoy it while it lasts.

Three is a magic number. They obviously couldn't bring Lulu back in, since she's going to have a baby. They needed to add in a character that reminded the fans of Lulu, so they broguth in Paine. So yes, I think she was needed.

I consider Final Fantasy VIII to have one of the best soundtracks out of the series. It pumped you up for battle, made you feel sad when there was a depressing scene coming up, and most of the music fit the game perfectly. My favorite song from the soundtrack is Premonition, the song that plays...

Resident Evil 4 is an amazing game. I hadn't played any of the previous RE's before, so I can't really compare, but this was a game that scared the living daylights out of me at one in the morning. If you like survival horror games, this is the one to grab.

I thought the Spirit Bodies were quite cute. I think Aeris' wouldn't be half bad, either. But I pretty much agree with Riku - they protect the Temple and Black Materia. Also, they're there because of unfinished business, and don't want anyone - like Sephiroth - to reach the Black Materia.

I think Final Fantasy: Spirits Within was an awesome movie. Not a poor excuse, at all. Most Final Fantasy fans are just angry that it consists of the Final Fantasy title, but has nothing to do with it. In my opinion, this movie > Advent Children.
