I know there's probably a topic similar to this, but since this is specific to Aeons and not summons in general, then it should have a new topic. (Wasn't sure whether it should go here or the FF-Fun forum, so please feel free to move it).
I'm sure there's some nifty and inventive ideas stacked...
You know what I would have loved to have seen with Valefor? Wind spells, ie: Aero, Aera, Aeraga - I mean, she's a flying Aeon, but no Wind-based damage? The nearest thing we get is Sonic Wings, which I think sucks in comparison to the other Aeon unique-abilities. But I understand what you mean...
If I ever play through this game, I think I'll make sure that I get Auron's Masamune before Yuna's Nirvana, that way I won't get WTFPWNed when at the Mushroom Rock Road looking to capture monsters by the Dark freaking Magus Sisters.
Actually, Tifa, I did have some ideas! XD
Since Yu Yevon is a summoner, I've realised that Sin is probably modelled after Bismark, a summon from VI. So, instead of having Yuna summon Bismark, I think Leviathan would have fitted perfectly as X's Water summon. (Also, I mean, we actually had an...
To be honest I'm indifferent about Auron, I don't like him XD Selphie ... *hangs head* why, oh why is she on there?
Oh lord, FFVII Cid was on there?! WHY? Nanaki > Cid any day.
I laughed out loud when the image of Golbez as the new FFIV logo was put up on Kain Highwind's section. That was just...
Of all the IX characters to get onto the list, STEINER got on it?! No Zidane or Garnet T_T
Why the hell was X-2 Yuna chosen over her X self? All of a sudden being a ditz is cool?
I'm incredibly happy, however, that Vivi got to number two ^_^
Bahamut FTW. Most most all of his forms look awesome (excluding that hideous monstrosity from AC, Bahamut SHIN/SIN).
IX's Bahamut is the coolest though :P
@ Tim Booth:
But that's the beauty of this game, you can challenge yourself by not using the Aeons whatsoever. I just think that it would've helped flesh out the world and story a bit more if there was more.
And yeah, Water/Watera/Waterga was actually a prominent part of this game! It's a shame...
Yeah, the elemental advantages and stuff really helped. I still feel that it had even more potential though. Instead of having four non-elemental Aeons, I feel that Square could have done more with them
Valefor could have been a Wind-based summon, and have spells like Aero/Aera/Aeraga and White...
I mean on top of Yojimbo, Anima and the Magus sisters. I still think 8 is too small a number :\ I think the game could've fitted two or three more.
I understand what you're saying though. What made the Espers of XII inferior, in my opinion is the fact that you cannot control them, and they...
I personally think that the Aeons and the summoning system in FFX is the best in the whole series. The Espers of XII were almost the Real-Time counterparts, but they still seemed to phail ...
The systems in III - IX were all the same, weren't they? Summon a creature, blast of doom/status...
On my third playthrough, I've found Rikku a lot more useful. I'm learning better Mixes, using her to her best capabilities (Steal, Mug, Copycat, Use). Sure, she may be useless if you give someone else Steal and Use, but if you like keeping to classes like I do, then she's great.
I've racked up...
ARGH!
On my next playthrough, as soon as I defeat Spherimorph, I'm backtracking all the way to Besaid so I can get the Jecht Sphere without having to kill Dark Valefor. I'm currently up to Mt. Gagazet, and now I can't pass through Guadosalam >_<
Each time that I have made another save file on FFX, I've done something differently.
1st File:
Kimahri and Rikku were useless and underused. I had Kimahri follow Lulu's part of the grid, and he was never as good as her. Tidus never reached Quick Hit, Lulu never had Ultima, Auron was my hard...
To be honest, I think that they both have their pro's and cons.
FF has pretty generic classes (White Mage, Black Mage, Thief), while the WoW classes are versatile.
Vana'diel is gigantic compared to Azeroth, even with Outland and Northrend included.
I think the WoW plots are very good, and...
The hardest genre I listen to is Symphonic Metal. (And for the love of god, I may like Nightwish, but I wouldn't call them metal. Anette-wish is more like Symphonic Popera anyway)
Epica and After Forever stand out for me. I'm getting more into screamy/grunty vocals, and these bands have got me...
VII:
Sephiroth - I don't give a damn if you found out you're a 90's leather-fetish reject who was just being used, STFU about your goddamn alien mother and actually do something villainish instead of just flying around boats like a £10-budget horror movie.
Barret - Phails with his...
