The first time I beat VII I didn't even know what Knights of the Round was. I beat VII again recently(a few months ago, I think) and I beat the game at Level 60. It was the fastest I have ever beaten it and yes, Sephiroth was a push over.
What R_D said. Basically I used the phrase meaning it is different to everyone so what ever the person(or eyes of the beholder) perceived it as, then that is what it is.

1. Steal from everything, especially bosses.
2. Save all your beginning equipment so it can be used to synthesize later.
3. When grinding, don't aim for a level, aim to master all the skills each character can learn from every piece of equipment you have. Repeat when new equipment becomes available.

You can beat IX with any party. I suggest making sure you have the best equipment that is available to you in the game. Also, make sure you learned as many skills/abilities as possible. The abilities and equipment are pretty much more of a cornerstone than levels. I had the best equipment and...
