Genres like SF and fantasy (even animation and comedy) tend to get shut out by the Oscars, the voters are old and have pretty conservative tastes unfortunately.
But I would point out The Matrix won four technical category Oscars, one of which was for visual effects!
It is a generally weak year I think, but The Artist is a great film and I hope it wins as is expected, as it deserves to and it's miles better than anything else nominated for Best Picture. My predictions for the major categories are:
The Artist
Michel Haznavicius
George Clooney
Viola Davis...
It will be interesting to see where she goes next, and how well it does. Part of me thinks if I were JK Rowling, I'd have done a Harper Lee and never written anything again. But then I'm not JK Rowling!
4 million copies isn't exactly to be sneezed at, even if it's not as much as some other games in the series. Also X was not 'universally liked', I don't think any FF game has ever been universally liked (though VI and VII come close).
So in other words you'd play it again if it were a completely different game? Not sure there's much point in posting in a thread asking what keeps you coming back to replay the game to say 'I don't keep coming back'
Although FFIX runs it very close, my favourite is FFVIII. I pretty much fell in love with it the moment I saw the jaw-dropping opening sequence with Liberi Fatali playing (the music in the game is especially good). And though I know it's maybe the most 'love it or hate it' game of the series...
I will never ever watch a film in 3D, the ticket prices are absurdly high and most of the time it just feels like an easy way to get more money out of filmgoers. Though there have been one or two smaller scale films that have made use of it (like Cave of Forgotten Dreams) so I guess I can't...
I don't really see the point myself, but the fact is remastering FFX is feasible, whereas (for all the constant moaning about it), the PS1 games would require a total remake and that would just take too much time to do.
I like seeing the plot unfold time and time again, and the biggest reward for me is getting to the battle with Ultimecia at the end, followed by an ending I have seen many times, and still love. Makes everything seem worth it.
Plus as mentioned the music is brilliant :)
Yeah the Ocean one is the one Chocograph where figuring out the location requires either luck or a walkthrough. That one is just evil!
And there's also the cracks and bubbles to look for with your Chocobo, so much good stuff to find using them in FFIX.
I love it, it's addictive. Maybe my favourite FF sidequest, especially as the rewards are worth it - it's always great to dig up the Chocographs, sometimes it does take a while to find them, but persistence pays off.
The first one was brilliant, but the second film was very disappointing, and completely spoilt the quite touching ending to the original. Not sure about this one, seems like it'll be hard to capture the magic of the first film.
One that always springs to mind is Pavement - Wowee Zowee

I just think it's a really nice painting, the style is lovely - and I like the speech bubbles!
Maison Ikokku is easily the best series Takahashi has done, partially as she doesn't run the premise into the ground. It's a lovely manga, and there's far more to it than what you say.
Last manga I read was Twin Spica 10, another sweet volume with an ending I knew was coming, but which was...
