You don't have to fight Ozma to get Ark. You get one Pumice Piece from defeating Ark in Oeilvert. You get another for a Chocograph reward. In Memoria, you can ask Hades to synthesise them together to create Pumice. Ark is learnt from Pumice. Only Garnet can learn Ark.
