So I'm going to be extremely blunt, not for the sake of clarifying or saying anything new, but so it's easier to discuss what the root problem with Tifa is.
Tifa in the 1997 FF7 version and the ps4 remake are completely different characters. In how they carry themselves, how they address...
My problem isn't that she's somewhat reserved/meek and a martial artist. My problem is that I believe she's just overly reserved and meek to the point that it's hard to believe the backstory the game provides for her. I don't find it a coincidence that the training of Zangan is usually glossed...
IF someone was going to make it as a cosplay prop.I'd imagine they would use Epoxy to make the shell, fill it with water, and somehow use a motor in the hilt to create the bubble effect. but that's just my suspicion. But i still think it would be a work of art even for cosplay purposes.
This is going to be a rant and a journey to get to my point. There's something about Tifa that I absolutely despise but I could never pinpoint it until now.
It was until I played Final Fantasy VII Remake when I finally realized it wasn't just a coincidence. In my opinion, the Tifa I have been...
I think Cloud and Aerith never had the chance to fully embrace their feelings for each other. I think the point of their relationship was having things be unresolved and ended before they could take off.
if there's one couple I hate, it's Cloud and Tifa....the relationship just is nowhere near...
i don't believe Final Fantasy needs to focus inherently on "Medieval". but I think Final Fantasy needs to move away form strictly Sci-fi aesthetic.
Would like more worlds to resemble, Dune, or Ivalice.
I really don't have any controversial opinions other than I believe Final Fantasy 11, and 14 should have never been MMOs. Most of my opinions are very much in-lined with common examples of the average fan other than that.
mostly in personality.. not in backstory. i do feel she becomes her own character a little later on, but the relationship between her and Squall feels like a combination of Cloud/Aerith and Cloud/Tifa.
i felt Rinoa was a character that was trying to be both Tifa and Aerith at the same time.
the other characters i really didn't care, but they were clearly following the tropes of the 90s anime girls.
i think most people who praise FF4 were praising it as "Final Fantasy II". For a while, we didn't have FF2 and FF3 to show how much the story evolved.
With that said, i agree with a lot of points you made. i heard the 3D Remake, expanded more, and revised some of the plot.
i have not had any hope in Square Enix to come up with anything new. They are creatively bankrupt. All their imagination and ideas going into a single MMO while the others are left to waiting for FF16.
i would love for them to push the boundaries again with FF and make something completely...
I'm very disappointed that they decided to take FF1 and just "retell" it in a new edgy dark way. This might've been as impressive in the PS3 era as this edgy dark mood would've worked. But this design looks a lot to be desired.
The problem is that we have a good example of what a darker FF1...
