I hate a lot of the female characters in the Final Fantasy series. Females in Final Fantasy tend to fall into three categories:
1. Manic Pixies (Rikku, Vanille, Selphie)
2. Soft spoken Yamato Nadeshiko (Yuna, Tifa, Lunafreya)
3. Too badass to ever have a happy emotion (Lightning, Payne...
Honestly, i think FF1 had the biggest opportunity to really give us a new perspective on the original. FF2 and onward i don't feel like we really need a new outlook.
However, i would appreciate remakes similar to FF3 and 4. 3d low-poly.
I think the teenage mercenary trope isn't bad, but its definitely leaning on the saturday morning cartoon vibes. No matter how serious FF8 gives it. Especially because the characters still fall under typical anime-tropes themselves.
I don't think thats necessarily a story weakness. if you're looking for explicit romance, then you probably looking in the wrong place. Although they're childhood friends, Vaan isn't Cloud, and Penelo isn't Tifa. Not every person ends up with their childhood friend, so there's no reason to...
I think out of all the games that requires a proper remake, it would be FF8.
FF8 is the most thrown-together 3D FF game in the mainline series. And because of it, it suffers from making it up as we go kind of situation. FF8 is also the most 90s game ever, for all the wrong reasons. Teenagers...
that's not at all what i said. I only said FF12 isn't designed to have a love triangle. Ashe sees both Vaan and Penelo as kids. Vaan and Penelo both act sibling-like to eachother.
Vaan and Fran? looks like we're reaching
unlike Tifa and Cloud, Penelo and Vaan look directly related to eachother. Its like the writers at the last minute made her not a sibling. To be honest, i dont think theres much of a love triangle going on in FF12.
I wouldn't call her feisty, even at her worst in the remake.
The fact that FF7 remakes part 1 pads out a lot of aspects specifically for Tifa/Aerith. I would be "pleasantly surprised" if future parts focus on roles that didn't involve Tifa/Aerith so much. But judging the nature of Remake Part...
I can only hope you practice what you preach.
I think "bratty" depends on the person. You might be talking to someone who in their time played with Bratz dolls and resonated with the name. But I concede that "Bratty" can be inaccurate. For a more accurate word, I'll say Tifa definitely had...
You're appealing to a lack of understanding of someone's motives not being consistent with their actions correct? As you and Six love to describe it as "consistent inconsistencies". In which there is no such thing as consistent inconsistencies in the real world. There are patterns that look like...
What I prefer is a character that is human, and flawed as the rest of the cast. I don't want the game to try to make Aerith and Tifa equal love rivals. I think what makes FF7 great was the fact that the love triangle was never fully equal but two contrasting characters that although both affect...
I think objectively, Tifa was really plain, but it doesn't help that despite being so plain, so many characters elevated her in the story. also the most anime-esque movements and reactions than any other character.
Although I find Nomura's design a little sexualized, other than the pencil mini...
So I tackle Tifa like I tackle any character, as a "Character". I'm not going to analyze Tifa in a way where it elevates her to real life but I will compare her to real life to make a point about her personality. or lack thereof.
For characters, I usually analyze what the story wants me to...
So after analyzing your preferences for Tifa and your distaste for Aerith, you shared a lot more about yourself than you realize.
From what you have expressed, you have a far-introverted personality and struggle with some form of codependency (family, friend, significant other. or just plain...
I think it's important to analyze one's preferences and make them clear. Tifa is a favorite to fans is something I can understand. Unfortunately, I understand at the level of "she's waifu material" but I understand nonetheless to a certain. To say she's your favorite character in ANY FF? Tifa...
Objectively there are 'gaps' within Tifa as a character if we're admitting to relying on personal experiences, biases, projection, and influences to explain her character. otherwise, the character would speak for themselves as they tell us why they do what they do. It's those gaps that allow...
