Yes, the hate with the new games is not new and i'm used to it. I can understand the hate of XIII because even XII was much superior to it when it comes to content. XI and XIV are hated because not all can play online games and have to pay for monthly subscription (I'm one of them). The system...
Believe it or not, majority of gamers today wants an action-packed games and it's evident on what I see in game centers. People play Call of Duty, Resident Evil, God of War, etc. but you can rarely see guys who play Tales of Xilia, Xenoblade Chronicles or Last Story.
Even if they had a target...
Whether the game is good or bad was not the point. I'm just telling that many gamers today would prefer more action packed games than Final Fantasy. And not to be rude to younger guys ,but they want a simple gameplay. I think the mechanics of FF was ummmm..... complicated for them?
I remember...
I'm sure even some newer players are turned off by the mechanics of FFXIII. They'll probably say it's boring or "WTF are they just standing there being attacked?" or how "cheesy" the characters and the storyline. Newer gamers today prefer flashy games (Hack n slash, Shooters and other action...
Start at the PS1 titles. It doesn't matter what games of that platform you play first. All of them are great. Then try the 16-bit era games (SNES) if you want to explore older games especially VI. If you are curious about the first 2 titles, play Origins (PS1 remake). Then play the newer to...
Early FF titles doesn't really have that "pairing" thing. Firion and Maria doesn't seem to have that romantic relationship. Same with Refia in FFIII. She was more of a mother/sister figure in that game.
But if we are talking about partnership, Baltier and Fran are the closest. They are more...
They could still attract new audience without turning off the already existing fans. They allienate their fanbase by dropping the elements that made the FF games so fun. I don't really mind changes. In fact I encourage it. SE should just be smart on doing it.
Not that it matter so much but...
There's no definite best. However each title holds memorable scores. I'll just list down my favorites:
World Map Themes:
Terra (FFVI) - This soundtrack make you feel that you are about to begin a long journey searching for hope.
Promised Land (FFII) - Probably the most depressing world map...
- A remake of FFV and FFVI
- Stop with the FFVII spinoffs already
- No more disappointing sequels like X-2 and XIII-2. Revenant Wings was the only true good sequel.
- Direct sequel/prequel of War of The Lions.
- Localize Type-0
- Update on Versus XIII. I don't care if it's renamed as FFXV as...
I guess it's the art, particularly FFVII and FFVIII and Kingdom Hearts. VII and KH got those anime style artwork.
And the Balamb Garden of FFVIII reminds of Japanese High Schools especially their uniforms. Same goes for Type-0 where the characters looks like high school students.
Worst FF?
X-2 - If you are a guy, you would probably embarassed watching Magical girls dancing like a retard. They tried to make it too "anime-ish". I love watching anime but stuff like these makes me sick.
XIII - It's not as bad as people say. However the characters is just bland as hell and...
Terra Branford. I just like her. It's simple
And Relm. I ROFL'd when she shouted at Strago to wake him up. Her foul mouthed behavior just cracks me up.
Gameplay wise, I pick the Figaro brothers. You can create a butthole with Edgar's drill without any mp or items wasted. Same with Sabin's...
I still like it but not to the extent of like that I have playing the past titles. I agree with Shina Spy. The online games was such a waste for a main title. The could have simply named it "Final Fantasy Online" just like "Imagine" to "Shin Megami Tensei".
Final Fantasy VII. I never really knew that title until I saw it on the box of my PS1. Then my cousin bought both Tactics and VII. I originally thought that it was a royal rumble style battle only to discover that it was an RPG game (which was a new genre to my ears). And since then, I fell in...
I'm surprised no one voted for Rosa. Cecil sure is a lucky bastard to have a wife like her.
Terra Branford would be my personal favorite. I guess you could call it appealing but I like her style.
Seriously, the Rinoa archetype is getting old fast. Every heroine past FFVIII resembles her...
I was always a casual anime fan when I was a kid and a hardcore JRPG gamer back then. I use to watch, Yuyu Hakusho, Saber Marionette, Dragon Ball Z, Tenchi Muyo, Ranma 1/2, etc. Games like Suikoden, King of Fighters and Breath of Fire brought me to hardcore anime fandom.
Mainstream music nowadays are trash especially pop music. My cousins called me "weird" because I don't listen to artist like Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga or some crap artist.
Just like how my beloved hip-hop genre have gone underground because many whack ass companies are milking them.
