I play guitar in a band so I usually notice that first, but then as songs flesh out I usually pick up on everything else. I try to listen out for subtle things such as bass harmonies and stuff. Anything for some inspiration y'know :)
One of the most chilled pieces of game music I've ever heard.
Also, OP is your Username a Maiden reference. Or am I just hoping to run into a Maiden fan ?
It's a toss up between Gaia (IX) and Spira. I'd literally have to toss a coin to decide which one to go to. I think IX would be more impressive for its architecture (Lindblum and Alexandria etc.) but Spira would be more like travelling to Asia or something. It seems very spiritual and relaxing...
Definitely setting a trend in this thread, but I have to say XII - XIII were the worst in my opinion. XII had a non-existent story and lifeless characters and XIII (as many have stated) was just running along tunnels for around 20 - 30 hours. Not very fun. Also, I hated the auto-battle concept...
I find it very difficult to pick a single game for its soundtrack. I've loved different pieces from all the different games. If I HAD to pick one game that stood out more due to the music I'd say X, just for the ending piece. That was one of the few video games that gave me a lump in my throat...
I was around 8 - 9 when I first played Final Fantasy VII at a friends house. He couldn't get out of the reactor at the beginning of the game (he'd been trying for days) because he didn't realise there was a run function and he'd been walking around the entire place getting into random...
Absolute favourites are: VII - Hades - Because I liked dishing out status effects for a change!
VIII - Leviathan - Because that that Tidal Wave flying down onto the enemies still looks awesome.
IX - Ark - Because it's just pure power.
X - Yojimbo - Unique and emanated sheer menace.
Oh and I...
Currently playing VI,VII,VIII and IX on my PSP. Alternating alot D: I should just pick one to replay rather than doing little bits of each at a time. I lost my PS2 memory card too so I have to reply X and XII again (and possible X-2 ¬_¬). Ah! I have to defeat all the Dark Aeons again! Give me...
Same here, but I can imagine if it were to be remade they'd heavily modify specific parts of the game and the battle system would likely be one area which they'd change most. Action RPG's are in right now and Japanese game designers seem to want to appeal to Western audiences with more action...
Currently Reading: The Wind Up Bird Chronicle by Haruki Murakami. I've been reading this on and off for months. It's a series of peaks and troughs in terms of my interest.
Recently Read: Ishmael by Daniel Quinn which was incredible. I need to re-read it many more times to completely take it in...
Well, I recently finished XIII-2 and whilst it was better than XIII it still felt lacking that special vibe. Then again it is an 'add on' game like X-2 so I guess it's not expected to be a deep thought provoking journey, but if you hated XIII I'd probably say leave XIII-2. It wouldn't be worth...
Just finished this game and beat most of the secret bosses, just got Immortal One and Professor K left to beat so I've hit up the Temple of Enlightenment to grind out some levels :P Just wish that damn hellish Kelolon would appear more.
Overall, I adored this game. Felt really old school to me...
I bought a psp for crisis core and dissidia only. In the end though I got a few more games for it, but lately I just play my ps1 classics on it.
I've been considering buying a PS3 for MGS 4 and Versus XIII when it's released. I wish I'd bought a PS3 over the Xbox originally but it was so damn...
Recently re-bought Lost Odyssey for £4 :D I've just finished my second play through. I'm loving the game so much right now. Manly tears we're shed during some of the dreams :')
I call her Aerith now just because I've gotten used to it. When I first played VII I pronounced Aeris "Air-Eez" weirdly. I've always pronounced things stupidly, like when I first read Harry Potter I pronounced Hermione "Her-me-own" ¬_¬
