You think so? I never beat XII, but the ending theme is one of my favorites to play in the Chaos Shrine. I think the only thing that keeps me from buying some tracks is the lack of a preview. Because honestly, IX is the only OST that I know the name to all of the songs.

I've just started rewatching Sailor Moon S in Japanese. I don't recall ever finishing this season, actually. But it's been a marathon going on since last night after work. :) I tried watching in the English dub when my sister was in the room, but oh gosh, it was awful.

I've briefly heard something about a new-ish release for the PC, but I haven't looked into it. However, I can also say that I'm not really interested, either. Like you kind of mentioned, I'm not really interested in anything that's FFVII related unless it's a remake. But even then, I'm not so sure.
