the sunken gelnika is a good place to level up. not only do the monsters give nice AP and EXP, but if i remember right all the monsters in there can also be morphed into a source of some description so you can raise your stats like that aswell

id say either the tonberries or cactuars, both are equally nice looking

it does seem rather wierd that a place designed to entertain people would be placed smack in the centre of a desert. i think it was more likely that the gold saucer was built there before the desert actually formed, and that it formed very quickly
