I didn't get into RPGs until I was around 16 years old when I played Grandia 2 via Dreamcast in the early 00s I was introduced to it by my cousin, the first FF game I played was Tactics Advance on GBA that I got for Christmas 2003 and I been hooked on the series since, the first mainline game I played was FFIV via SNES emulation and my love only grew from there.

[I have since gotten actual physical versions of the older games 1-6 that I initially I didn't have starting out mainly various re releases ]

Nowadays I tend to prefer the older games I pretty much like everything south of FFXII [not counting XI]
but I don't care for the newer games nor do I play or like MMOs it's not my thing
