Well, mister Dragon Mage, that's one hell of a reply! I hope you'll forgive me for not taking an hour to provide you with a decent answer.
Mission succesful. Out of respect for the work you've put in your posts in this topic I'll let my children play Tetris an hour every week. How does that...
Christ, this must be like the 5th time I'm saying this:
I don't think videogames are bad. I just believe kids should be doing other things in their free time than playing videogames.
So please, drop the "omg you're weird you complain about videogames on a videogame-forum and you actually play...
Yes, I threw that in. Does that mean I think you're a bad parent when you do that? No, you just handle that situation not to my liking. I'm sure you're a better parent when it comes to other stuff.
I'm entitled to an opinion and merely expressing that opinion is not telling you how to raise...
For some reason I always have to explain things three times here, why's that?
"Anyway, I was speaking figuratively ofcourse."
"The hostility was merely to make a point. It was a random rant in the Spam Coliseum, not a serious discussion provoking thread. So please forgive me for using strong...
I gave my opinion, if you don't wanna read it you better stay away from this thread.
It was just a random rant, without the intention to provoke a serious discussion. If you take it seriously, don't start accusing me of forcing my opinion on you.
And I am being nice, I just disagree with you...
Talking to your kid about the book in question never popped up in your head? You can have a way more satisfying conversation with a kid about a book than you can have with him/her about a videogame, which are usually pretty standard (fight, shoot or play a sport).
No, I'm working under the belief little kids could do better things with their time than to play video games.
I bet that's been proven by researchers funded by the likes of Sony.
Disagree, bookd are to the mind what sports is to the body.
Reading a book or playing some boardgames is also...
They're not babies, they won't die of a little rain or when it's a bit cold. And as I said: cars/dolls/soldiers, reading a book, playing board games with siblings and/or friends. Those are all things to do inside.
Ofcourse, it's pretty easy for a parent to give his/her kid a playstation and a...
Jezus, playing videogames "as a pro" at the age of 8. What is this world coming to? What's wrong with playing outside with your little friends at that age?
Call me old-fashioned but if I ever see my kids playing videogames before they reach puberty, I'll take out a sledgehammer and smash it to...
Renting all the way, baby.
Buying a house means you're stuck to it for at least a few decades and I simply don't want that. I want freedom, I wanna be able to say "and now I'm tired of this place, I'm off to X" and that's only possible if you rent a place.
I speak English and Dutch fluently, French nearly fluently and i have notions from the German language due to 2 years of it at school.
Unlike others here, I don't think that knowing the basics and having some notions are enough to to say I speak a certain language. So I voted 3.
What aliens?
The beginning is one of the most boring parts for me. It just takes so damn long before you get any action and if you have played the game a few times, you're always wondering "why should I keep up with this, I already finished it twice before. Shouldn't I spend my time better?"...
Due to my big interest in history, especially Medieval history, it shouldn't be too surprising that my favourite genre is historical fiction and fantasy in a medieval setting (which it is usually, but not always). Doesn't mean I can't enjoy a book in a more present setting though. I love travel...
