I'm starting to feel too old to be here.
My first was FFIV on the SNES when I was 10. It way maybe my third game, and I got it used from a local video store that was going out of business.
I fell out of the loop until FFVIII when I was maybe in 8th grade, maybe HS, I don't remember. After...
No Engagement: But I learned this great trick while grinding for gil:
Place a book on the floor that is 1 inch in thickness (an old textbook, perhaps).
Place foot on book, big toe dangling over the edge. Place your controller by the book, with the X under your big toe.
Now you can paint...
I'm still in the process of mine. A year ago, I would have said that the Celestial Weapons in X was the worst. Now, I think that chasing down Platinum Ingots and Perfumes in XIII to get cash for my weapons is the worst. I think this one is just bad game design. How many times can I take down...
ITA. Rinoa also had a lot of persistence to keep chipping away at Squall's shell until she was able to get in. Before the coma was that corny data night with Rinoa and Squall bonding that helped lead up to the breaking point to mentioned above.
Yes, Rinoa was girly and pushy, but I preferred...
FFIV is a classic, an evolutionary step for RPG in America. Although the technology isn't much to some, it's a great early example of how Square maximized the technology to it's fullest, richest storytelling potential. It set a standard of music, character archetypes, and storytelling.
Palom...
I didn't like that aspect of Irvine, either. Plus, his character just got on my nerves.
I kept Squall and Rinoa together at all times, because I'm romantic like that. Squall kept up the PAs while Rinoa kept healing on him and bad vodoo on the enemy. Quistis was my 3rd for random encounters...
I think these outfits suit each character well:
· Alchemist: Rikku is the only one who doesn't look totally hideous in this outfit
· Berserker - again, Rikku pulls this one off the best
· Black Mage - Paine pulls this one off, with Rikku in second
· Dark Knight - Paine
· Gun Mage - Yuna...
This game allowed me to attend to all the personal tasks necessary for a night of gaming. I could drink, eat sandwiches, do whatever, and not have to decide between taking a deathblow and choking on my Dr. Pepper. The enemies got their fair share, so there were still plenty of "gasp" moments.
I got a lot of success by keeping Lulu and Rikku at the forefront, with either Tidus and Yuna filling in one gap or the other. If I wanted physical attacks, I'd bring Tidus in and let him go into OD, or I'd keep Yuna on hand for a healer. I got a kick out of Rikku's more powerful mixes, and wore...
In each game, I find myself with some section of the walkthrough that I use until it falls apart. The hunting guide in XIII, bestiary in XII, Blitzball and Rikku's mix grid in section in X, weapons guide in VIII, ect. I get turned around a lot, so it's hard not to use the maps. If an area is...
I gave up on the pink tail, too. I actually really enjoyed the Cave of Summoned monsters. It was my first RPG, and it was my first serious sidequest. I was still under 12 when I played it, and it made me fell like such a little RPG discoverer. That made getting to the village all the more...
I agree with all the posters above who think that Cecil and Rosa just didn't need any kissing scenes. They're the most serious FF couple I know of, without any real light-hearted moments. Their reunion embraces show about as much emotion as you could get with 16 bits, backed up by the soundtrack.
