I always was amused by the revolving door of characters, as I felt it was something specifically unique to FFIV in the way that they do it to the extreme, and the first time you play it it adds a lot of dynamics to your party. In other FF games, I always choose my favorites and stick stubbornly...

I don't believe it deletes Materia on you -- this has never happened to me. I don't know if I've ever reached the max though. I never paid much attention to how full that box was. o_O

I always thought the soul was individual, but still part of a collective, though not quite so defined as it was when it was in the body. Like, instead of being conscious, you're just a collection of your past thoughts and memories (does that make sense?). I don't know if Bugenhagen says anything...
