The original One Winged Angel was alright, in my opinion. Of course, it got bland and almost disgusting once Uematsu came out with the orchestrated version of it. It probably goes without saying that this set the stage for the symphonic rock version we know today as Advent: One Winged Angel.

Mind you that Advent: One Winged Angel was performed by the Black Mages, Uematsu own rock band. Of course it sounds amazing, especially for the fans. The use of Latin lyrics brings an eerie yet entertaining aura for the listeners.

I also remember in an interview that Uematsu said something about rock songs today trying to mix itself with an orchestra and not work well. He then mentioned that One Winged Angel was never meant to be an orchestrated piece, let alone a rock piece. So, being the musical genious he is, Advent: One Winged Angel was created, seemingly flawlessly.

Advent: One Winged Angel wins my vote for best performance.

Advent One-Winged Angel is by far the best. The only thing that could have been improved on was the lyrics - the original lyrics with the rock approach would be the best.

Indeed, or even combining the lyrics. For some reason I get the feeling that it would feel more powerful than "Noli manere. . ."

The AC one...its more...umm....rock-ish.

I prefer the lyrics in the original one as oppose to the ones in the AC version. Although I thought the actual music of One Winged Angel was so much better rocked up like that in AC.
