Final Fantasy Versus XIII is now Final Fantasy XV

So yea but I wanna know who the heck was that girl in the first Final Fantasy XV Trailer???!!!

Looked interesting- I would still prefer to have FF13vs and a FF15 but at this point, something > nothing.

I knew this back like 2 years. It would eventually happen that Versus XIII would become Final Fantasy XV. Am I psychic? Perhaps. I have predicted things before. So the actual trailer was pretty great. I loved the rebranding at the end and it struck me. Why? I was all like... it cannot still be called Versus! Then I saw the letters shatter to become what I predicted all along.

I am pretty excited. I mean SE have probably redeemed themselves here with XV and KH III. XV looks absolutely stunning and gorgeous. I cannot wait to play it in 2018 (Might happen now that KH III is in development -.-)

I like that Stella has a voice now. About time SE! I also liked that they showed a lot more and not some puny trailer. It was cool to see the trailer and all. I hope they will continue to keep updating us.

Rofl. We are going to have a bunch of these threads going around by tomorrow, there's already only two, so I predict more :wacky:

This wasn't surprising, them refusing to talk about the subject and continually sweeping conversation about it under the rug until the PS4 reveal made sense in the end. They couldn't really comment too much on it because they were developing it for the new system and they knew people would be ticked because it was originally to be a PS3 title.

Whatever, in the end this game was the highlight of E3 and the 4's reveal for me. The game looks so much cleaner and the graphics are on a whole new level with the ps4. The screenshot where Noct is holding on to the pillar that is falling with that massive dragon in the background...:gonk:

I look forward to hearing more about it at a later point...hopefully it will be available fairly soon after the 4's release. I'm not happy I will have to buy another system right away to play this game, but I will :wacky:

Anyone who didn't get to see the newest trailer for XV:

My mistake. I didn't see the thread when I made this. But I'm usually careful about it. I also saw kh3 teaser.

Oddly enough i have ESP and dreampt all of these trailers around 2010. Each time a vision comes true, it gives me this feeling the world is either A) going to end or B)I'm reliving my life for the second time and these visions are signs of the end of the world or the next step towards it.

This however, made my day. A whole new cast introduced. We get to see leviathan and at least another female character in this game.

I'm however dissapointed in the logo. Compared to agito XIII/Type-0 logo change, Versus XIII/XV looks worst

Seriously, I don't know what people are getting so excited about, because this looks like a slightly more advanced version of FFXIII, both in terms of graphics - which will, of course, be stunning and will, of course, have no bearing whatsoever on how enjoyable or not the game is - and gameplay, which reminds me of The Last Story more than anything else, which is one of the worst JRPGs I've played in recent years.

Square Enix have proved over the last few years, time and again, that they're all about style now and not substance; that they make flashy movies with added player controls, not proper video games. It's going to take a hell of a lot more than a single flashy trailer under a sparkly new title vaguely promising a release date sometime within the next year or two to prove to me that they're going to mend their ways. Remember how flashy FFXIII was when it came out? Remember how exciting the trailers made it look? Look at how THAT turned out.

Stop and think about it for a minute before you piss yourself with excitement. Or don't. Just remember when this game turns out to be utterly shit that I told you so.

Yea, the logo looks rather bland but aside I have high hopes for this game from what I've seen this far, I really hope they make it for PS3 and PS4, like some other companies are doing to some games right now. Honestly, for once I'm excited about something SE does not to mention the KH3 announcement!

And yet you defend the game like a Banshee or at least lightning of ff13

The last story is actually considered a great game. With 13, there have been many people speculating whether the game be good or not. Mainly because the character Lightning look like crap to me.

Compared to FF13, ff15 is an action RPG based game. And flashy/ yes. But that flashy scenes we saw were actual freedom.

The only thing bothering me is it hasn't confirmed if this game is an open world. That will be the dealbreaker. But then again, many of the things nomura has confirmed aren't in this trailer.

This looks better than 13 in graphics aswell. I don't know if you're just trying to make 15 look bad but its a game we've been waiting for years, longer than 13.

Martel.... people are excited the game exists. I guess that is the way I see it. I guess I am glad It exists in a way as well. Yeah, the graphics are stunning. I also like the gameplay though and I think it is rather neat. There might be some TLS in there in terms of the cover system, yep. I dont see it being like that all the time.

In no way are they "mending" their ways. I am just glad the game exists. This trailer did not prove to me that this is amazing just yet. I do not see what it is wrong with a little excitement though. I do remember all that! I was a prime example of getting over hyped over it. It was not just me! People who liked it are just XIII haters now. You people know who you are. :mokken:

When I say SE redeemed themselves... I do mean they finally got off their lazy arse and announced to us that Versus is XV. Maybe we should have got this news long ago? They just keep secrets like no tomorrow.

The only games they fucked up was the FF13 series... People make such drama out of something so small. FF13 sucked and so did it's sequel. FFX was good, FFX-2 sucked and then FF12 was great. The same thing can happen with Versus (FF15)

People can get excited if they want, you can be unexcited if you want but I don't think it's fair to tell people not to get excited :hmmm:

And if it turns out that it is actually a complete load of garbage...well then you can say "I told you all so".

I'm actually pretty excited for this, to my surprise. The trailer looks friggin' awesome, and the gameplay elements seemed fantastic. It might very well be an enhanced version of XIII gameplay, but I don't see that so much as a bad thing. I mean, the only thing I didn't like about XIII's gameplay was that it wasn't the least bit immersive in my opinion, and in XV there seems to be some platform elements that I reckon would change that.

So far, I'm kinda getting the impression with this that the story is kind of a rehash of FFIV, in which some all powerful military force is going around snatching crystals from various nations. I don't really know what else to say about that at this point, nor do I know if it's a good thing or a bad thing. I guess it just depends on how they execute this. :hmmm:

I'm feeling kinda positive about this one though, so... yeah, roll on whenever it is released. :monster:

> SE just shows a simple trailer

> Hates the game and thinks that it's the worst thing ever already

I'm not convinced as the title change was predictable and we saw it a mile away. They're picking up pace sure, but how do we know we won't be waiting another decade of our lives before this game finally shows its face after dancing around ambiguity for almost 8 years? The gameplay looks excellent, almost like a feverish realistic Kingdom Hearts. But are we really getting what we've waited for all this time? I know I was near convinced by the plot and voices, but now this game has been in development for so long I could only say 'meh'. A part of me is indifferent due to the long wait, yet another part due to my love for FF hopes this doesn't cock up like XIII did.

I finally watched the trailer and it looks really good and exciting. It does look very different from the usual FF games. It's very action orientated. The graphics are great and there seem to be a lot of characters.

Baby Noctis is fucking adorable.

It was hard to see the battle menu in the trailer I watched but it seems to give you a lot more control (from what I could tell) than FF13 did.

I really hope they keep much of the elements they had planned for the battle system back when this was announced as Versus. :hmmm:

If they stick with something like this, then it would be so much more than just an advanced version of XIII. I love the idea of being able to control vehicles in battle like that, and being able to switch characters who each have their own unique way of fighting. (For example, the fella with a gun. You have to physically aim at the enemies and shoot at them.)

And it is very Kingdom Hearts like, so it wouldn't be something too new and unfamiliar to the point it would make people feel uncomfortable either.

I am quite pleased about the fact this doesn't excite me... I told myself over a year ago that I wouldn't buy the next gen of consoles - I already have too many consoles and too many fantastic games to play, so it feels a bit wasteful.

Based on what I have seen here, the gameplay doesn't appeal to me. It looks a little too clunky. :hmmm: I could be wrong of course! So I will retain judgement.

The storyline looks reasonable, but it doesn't look like it will be as good as the storylines in VI to X. Having said that, I feel there is more to see. I would have liked to see more of Stella!

Even if this game turns out to be the best since FFX, I am going to have to experience this game through pieces of writing, reviews and online videos.

hrm

I dunno, I took paracetamol last night, dropped to sleep immediately and I just got up not long ago, still feeling shit, so that could be why I wasn't as wowed by the trailer as I should have. I suppose it's also because the video quality was so bad that I couldn't see what was actually going on, apart from flashes of light and some leviathans in the sky. I need to rewatch it in high definition, but surely after 2 and a half years, they would be a bit more liberal with how much they show instead of a few minutes, half of which being cinematics and words that fill the screen and continue to make little sense.

But as far as I can tell, I like the HUD a lot more than the spasm-HUD of the previous 2011 trailer featuring the character portraits flail around like ragdolls. Heck, if they had come out with the 2011 trailer with most of it intact, I would have lost interest, because it doesn't hold up now. At least Vers- uhh, FFXV looks fancier than the typical Crisis Core-Kingdom Hearts fare. And at least this solidly takes a dump on Lightning's third game. Now the waiting game to see how it will end up!~

Did they seriously not say whether this will be exclusive to PS4?

I knew this back like 2 years. It would eventually happen that Versus XIII would become Final Fantasy XV. Am I psychic? Perhaps. I have predicted things before.

Of course you did. I mean, I predicted tons of things as well. I predicted that the Asian financial crash would happen when I was only three years old. I predicted that the guy was already dead in The Sixth Sense. I predicted that the Higgs-Boson particle actually does exist. I also predicted before I was born the collapse of the Soviet Union. Join the Nostradamus club!~

(I only started guessing it would be FFXV because Kagari hinted so on GAF)

In what way does the gameplay look similar to xiii? Back then SE concentrated on showing the action rather than gameplay when it fame to XIII. Which fooled all of us into thinking it was very fast paced. Which it wasnt. Overall, this is still an action RPG, something XIII lacks. So gameplay isnt enhanced, its just different from XIII entirely. Me? I saw some great gameplay elements. The only way all that could suck if they did that time event thing XIII-2 did and in reality we are seeing the entire gameplay be about pressing a reaction command. But I HIGHLY doubt it.this game is being directed by nomura. And he always delivers in the gameplay department. But my only concern is whether this is an open world game. It still hasnt been confirmed. Other than that. Just 1 trailer, obviously we will see more concentrated on gameplay and even story. When Agito XIII was re-revealed as Type-0 did we get 1 trailer? No, we got several over time. Obviously we will see more of XVersus trailers to show us more on gameplay. For now lets be happy we got something.btw, crystal snatching has been around for a long time. FF Dimensions, FF type-0 in a way, basically, its a plot device that will be used every now and then. Similar to link rescuing zelda.
