I would say it counts... It does not necessarily have to be official merchandise, but obviously not everything constitutes... as for this, I say yes.

zh_kane... that's one hell of an impressive collection. I would guess you as the winner as of right now. Your Tactics is a Greatest Hits edition, that's kind of a shame, but everything else looks great

yeah tactics is greatest hits and pal ff8 is platinum, and ff8 for pc is the re-release too
goal is to get everything original label and sealed, with a second copy unsealed for me to play. then another sealed copy for every other region. or was till the girlfriend made me stop spending for a while, now it's just to get back into it once she starts giving me my final fantasy allowance. damn the real world.
anyone else so far got ff1 for the msx ? dying to see a copy in better condition, then I'll try to buy it. mwuhahahaha
 
I don't think Kingdom Hearts should really count, but I suppose it does have the FF characters in it, even if they're out of context. But here's what I'll add on to my meager list:
