[23/07] Square Enix and Witch Craft Release iOS RPG Star Burial Dragnir
A new Square Enix RPG is available for iOS today. The third entry under the company's SiSiLaLa Overdrive label, Star Burial Dragnir is an RPG from Witch Craft, makers of Maho Shojo Lyrical Nanoha A's Portable on PSP.
Set in the world of Iglen, which has come under the attack of the Vasago, players take control of the last hope for mankind, a dragon knight called Alan Rolan and his dragon, Murasame. The game does away with standard command battles in place of a unique battle system where you influence Murasame's attacks.
The game is split into five chapters along with one free prologue chapter. You'll find a trailer for the prologue below. For trailers for the other chapters, see Square Enix's YouTube channel.
This actually looks interesting to me. Sadly the controls are going to be god awful. Same problem as Chaos Rings. The controls are just terrible and I absolutely hate digital analog sticks for being inaccurate and floaty as well as having your hand get in the way of the screen.

It's a shame that it's on the IOs; it would of made a excellent PS3 game and would of created more fan interest from the western side too. It sort of has a Star Ocean feel towards it and a Star Ocean game did pretty well on the PS3 and Xbox. Oh well, life was never made fair I guess....
Yes, this does look like one of Square Enix's more intriguing games, if only because they ripped of Cavia's design for the dragons in Drakengard. Although I won't be looking into it either, for exactly the same reasons stated by others: it's an iOS game. iOS is a pile of bollocks. It's good for five-minute entertainment like Plants vs. Zombies or Angry Birds - which are fun games in their own right - but not for "serious" JRPGs or anything that requires you to do more than tap the screen in one place or in any complex movement. It's just not designed for it. Bunch of bloody idiots.
Wasteful talent here. Looks cool, but it's on a damn touch-screen phone. Nope.
Who the heck sits down in the car with earphones and plays hour-long sessions of a serious JRPG, while simultaneously receiving texts or calls? I bet 5% of players will actually finish this.
