[PS3] Persona 4 Arena Will Be Region Locked

Now I find it vital to post this, since we have so many users around the world.

Persona 4 Arena on PS3 will be region-locked

The North American version of an upcoming fighting game will only work on North American and South American PS3 consoles; online servers will be global.
Atlus has announced that the North American version of the upcoming 2D fighting game Persona 4 Arena will only work on PS3 consoles in North and South America.



While both the Japanese and North American version of P4A will be identical and will include both English and Japanese text and voiceovers, the Japanese version of P4A will require a Japanese PS3 console.
Atlus also confirmed that the online servers for P4A's online play will be global. This means that players using the North American version of the game can fight against other online players from different territories.
No comment has been given by Atlus to GameSpot as to why the region lock has been implemented in the PS3 version of the game. For more information, check out GameSpot's recent coverage.

The reason doesnt matter, people will just bash at the game and at the end it will hurt the sell of the game greatly, first this is a niche fighthing game and when you see a game like StreetFighterxTekken selling poorly (Its more for the discc locked content than its Bugs apparently) then this one could be a massive failure.

Is like with the disc locked content, Capcom can come with any justification they want but the fact is that people dont want to be screwed and this will be the reason why Arena will more likely to Crash and ATLUS will fall with it.

I love ATLUS and all but due to principles i wont be getting Arena (Not that i wanted too much the game aniway), i say ATLUS should prepare for a Massive Backlash whatever the reason they should come it wont matter, i hope im wrong though.

I might not be into Persona games that much, but this is a game being made by Arc system games, the ones who made Guilty Gear. I'll end up getting the game sooner or later, but not on the release day.

Hmmm guess they found out about me importing Catherine back in October ... Still it does seem rather odd to go out of their way to do this, it's hardly got any spoilers, it's just a fighting game...

I'm a hardcore persona fan now that I played 3 I'm working on getting 1,2, & 4 down the line, I'll be getting this too since its made by Arc Systems, they have a natural nack for making fun fighting games so them working on the Persona 4 Arena is just a plus for me :3

I really don't see a problem with this being region locked. As some have said you can still play online and fight with others from different regions. You just can't play a Europe game on North America ps3. I don't see how this is a screw up or how it will affect sales except maybe by the 1 in 100 person(exaggeration) who owns a ps3 out of their region.

I love persona games but i wont support this shaddy move.
It has everything to do with disc locked content, it screw people and if people support the games they are just setting the norm so other publishers do it and then this could happen here too, you just dont see the bigger picture.

Its not this game is that if this is tolerated they could region lock all their future game. Some people that live in EU have NA PS3 because there are a lot of games that dont come to the Region so this is a BIG issue, i like to import games and if we let this pass other publishers will do the same.

Considering it'd probably be more expensive to import it and the versions will be mostly identical, I REALLY can't see the fuss over it unless you HAVE to be one of the first people to get it before everybody else in the US just to brag that you have it, in which case, I believe I'm within rights to say 'get over it'.

Disc locked content IS AN EXAMPLE is a move that no one should support like with this REGION LOCKED game is not acceptable too, is like with DLC (AN EXAMPLE) where has going to the point that a game is completely teared appart just to get money as DLC and thus we see games like FFXIII-2 were almost half the game is DLC and people just "get over it" and let themselves be ripped out because now is the norm. You are within the rights to be screwed over and i have mine to be agaisnt this move. (Again DLC is an example)
