FFIV: What would you change?

Continuing with the pattern of 'what would you change' threads....

I haven't really played the game, but I'm sure others have some things to say about this game. What would make the game better? Would it be more enjoyable if certain things are modified, added or removed?

Rosa : Oh Kain, I see you have been mind controlled and everything but you really care about me.

Kain : I do.

Rosa : I choose you instead of that girly looking Cecil. I always feel like a Lesbian whenever he's nearby. You're a true sexy man Kain.

Kain : I know. / Kain rips off his shirt showing his sexy muscles/

Rosa : Ooooooh Kain ! You're one of the best Final Fantasy males ever created. So mysterious, so handsome, so mistunderstood.

Cecil : Rosa get off the Big Whale. You cannot fight in the last battle because you're a woman, and girls are weak !

Rydia : / Kicks Cecil off the airship/

Kain : Rosa, Rydia. Cecil is a sexist moron.

Rydia & Rosa : We know !!

Kain: I am the best Final Fantasy male and King of the Final Fantasy universe.


This small change would make it the best Final Fantasy game ever.

Aww cmon he didnt kick rydia and rosa off because they were women. He just wanted to protect them nevertheless the only thing I would change would be perhaps less encounter rate. Kain is my favourite character of all time but I prefer Cecil with Rosa anyway. Perhaps we could get a behind the scenes to see the whole possession of golbez and kain by zeromus and golbez respectively after those things were revealed to us.

Then how come keep Edge and Kain ? He didn't want to protect them either ? He grew up with Kain as childhood friends and have known him a long time despite his recent backstabbing. So how come he didn't care or want to protect Kain as well ? If Cecil wanted to protect Rosa and Rydia by taking them off the ship, then how come he didn't say the same for Edge and Kain ? He didn't give a crap about them ?

I'm sorry but. Imo Cecil is a sexist douche.

Plus Rydia has the summons and black mage and Rosa has the curing. What are they supposed do when they're injured and have no potions left ? But lol nope, off the airship you go and get back into the kitchen.

Rydia should of kicked him off instead, he's the one that most looks like a female. That's one change I would make and I'm not backtracking on it. Rosa and Rydia are strong female characters and Cecil was a douche to treat them like they're feeble and can't lift a finger. Imo if Cecil was worried about the people he cared about, he would of told Edge and Kain to go as well and went off to deal with Zeromus alone and then have everybody to stop him and say that they cared about him and wanted to defeat and battle Zeromus together. That would of been so much better.

But well.. Its different concerning Rydia and Rosa. Rosa is the person he loves the most so its only logical that he would have that reaction. He also throws rydia out because he feels guilty for the death of her mother and doesnt want to cause her more harm.. On the other side kain and edge dont have those strong reasons for cecil to have the necessity to protect them.. Thats my interpretation if you wanna take that approach thats up to you but Im pretty sure that was not the creator's intentions,

But wouldn't Cecil want to protect his childhood friend as well ? I'm going to be honest here and mention that I'm a little biased towards Kain because he's one of my fav FF males. But Kain has been used and abused by Zeromus throughout the whole entire game and even pretty much fears him if you read his thoughts in the DS version. Wouldn't it be better to try and protect him from Zeromus as well ? What if Zeromus tried to control Kain again ? Kain might of not showed it, but he was pretty much really scared of Zeromus. Wouldn't it be better to tell Rosa to take care off him and let him rest and not force him to face his worst fears ? Plus he told Cecil that if he got controlled again to let him and Edge kill him and don't back out. Letting Kain go straight towards the person who's treating him like a doll doesn't make sense.

I try and look at it by the reason that he wanted to protect his beloved and somebody who he sees as a innocent young girl despite her growth.. but it seems cold for Cecil to not also care about Kain as well. Edge wanted revenge and he knew what he was going in for, but Kain could of been controlled again and maybe killed by Cecil and Edge. Did Cecil secretly want that to happen because of Kain's recent backstabbing ?

If Cecil wanted the people he most cared about to not die or go near any threats. Why not Kain ? Wouldn't it be better to tell Kain to go with Rosa and Rydia and just rest and relax until the battle is over ? Because again, what if Zeromus did control Kain again. Cecil was willing to kill him ?

Rosa may of been his beloved and Rydia may be a young lady, but Kain is a friend to Cecil. I'm not trying to say here "your opinion is wrong " because it's not just I feel personally that Cecil assumed that Rosa and Rydia are weaker than the boys and are going to die because if he was worried about the people he cared about the most- why not care about the poor fellow that has been used as a puppet and was extremely worried that he could harm somebody again if he got controlled ?

I think it would of been better for Cecil to tell everybody to leave- even Edge and then everybody to stop him from going alone and say that they will all help defeat Zeromus.

Well... I think Kain was also in for personal Vendetta, and its not like Cecil can really treat kain like he owns him.. They are basically brother in battle and in arms its a different type of relationship.Its not like Cecil can make Kain stop fighting. But then again I think I got my point across and I still dont blame Cecil for trying what he did. Just for an extra info here Kain is my favourite character of all time. He is so badass in dissidia especially when he says "What I begin I finish" Im like FUCK YEA!!HELL YEA!! XD

I was like 8~9 when I first played this and I renamed my characters after family members. I named Rydia after my grandmother, and when she got eaten by a whale, I cried and turned the game off. I only have ever played it once since then.

What would I change...

Well this was my first FF game ever so it holds a special place in my heart... so it is very hard to say what I would change

But if I had to choose something to change...

I would change the way Cid looked!

For some reason his look in the game annoyed me (in the 2D version, not the DS one...) in the DS version...everything annoyed me from looks to voices... so... maybe I would change that to never exist
