Whether a guy prefers a woman wearing make up to going au naturale is purely subjective; it's based on the individual's preferences. I've met guys who preferred me natural to when I take the time and effort to apply on a scant amount of make up. Likewise, I've met guys who definitely respond more to me when I fancy wearing a bit of eye shadow and some lip gloss. I see make up as a tool for accentuating features that are already pronounced on a woman's face. I personally feel that it's not always necessary to wear but when it concerns men--the matter of make up versus none at all is subjective. Some men find women to be "hotter" or "sexier" with well-applied make-up, regardless of the amount, others prefer girls to be fresh-faced and more natural in her physical appearance. Some men just think make up can mar and cover up what they want to see--flaws and imperfections as well as what they deem to be naturally attractive. It's really inaccurate and incorrect to apply a generalization over all men and say that they view all women "this way" and prefer for us to be garbed in one form of clothing and to always cover up our faces in eye shadow, eye liner, concealer and the like. You even have men that are divided between make up and naturalness in beauty: they won't necessarily be concerned if their girlfriend goes out with them without wearing any make up because they can't be bothered to put it on (shit takes effort and time and can be bothersome for some sometimes, myself included). Sometimes they'll appreciate a girl who applies make up well but it wouldn't be a necessity for them. So really, to answer the OP's question: whether a man cares or not if his woman wears make up is really dependent on his preferences and opinions on that subject matter. It varies from man to man.

Riddick's off-topic post now has its own thread. If you want to continue discussing that topic, do it there.

To me it is down to their natural beauty, the make up is just a bonus and it depends on how much makeup is applied to that girls face. As a guy I am all for simple things but when a girl goes to the extent of putting layer upon layer to make themselves believe they are pretty..to me it is too much. I think if a girl has less on I think it shows more confidence on their part (or it could be that they got up late and couldn't do all they wanted haha) But anyways back to seriousness! It doesn't matter to me whether it is on or not, I met my other half and she had make up on....the more I knew her the more she changed it and the less she put on and then some days she just didn't she looked great and I still loved her the same and my attraction to her didn't change...
Well thats my view

I would love it if this was the general view of men on women who wear make up, but obviously it won't be because everyone is an individual with their own ideas and beliefs. But I think this is the most sensible response.
Natural beauty should be the number one priority. If a girl decides to use a little eye shadow, mascara, blush, etc. to make herself feel a bit more confident/add upon her beauty then that's fine. But if she's plastering herself with layer upon layer of make up.......I just don't see how a guy can find that attractive.
You might as well be dating Krusty the Clown. No offense to girls who actually put on more make up than they need. That's your choice in the matter. Personally, I find it unnecessary.
That's why I'm a girl who wears very little makeup. I just don't have time in the morning to be worrying about how I look when I'm only going to one or two classes filled with students who are too busy worrying about finals to care how I look. Hell, I go in wearing sweatpants and a hoodie half the time. If I was going out then I'd put a little bit more make up on. But if I'm just going out to the store or something? Who cares.

i am glad you appreciate my views, to be honest i feel that was one of the reasons my current girl friend liked me more cause she wasnt confident with how she looked and being with me has made her more confident in herself
but yep its each to their own on this.

Like others here, I can find make-up attractive but I do not like it when people put too much on. When the make-up is applied to hide the face then I do not tend to like it. An example is putting on so much make-up that the person looks like a peach dipped in orange powder. I do not see this as often as I used to, so perhaps it is going out of fashion now (or perhaps I've stopped noticing).
I prefer seeing minimal make-up or natural faces. When I do like seeing make-up which does a bit more it is purely for aesthetic reasons and because having interesting colours, etc, can be interesting to look at. But that sort of make-up is a bit like clothing, just something put on but not necessarily part of an image of that person.
For make-up that people would be wearing all of the time I'd prefer seeing something more natural looking, therefore seeing the person.
But really, it isn't any of my business what girls like to put on themselves. If you're moody as a trout out of hell then make-up alone isn't going to transform you into a beautiful swan. It's therefore just as important to take care of one's own mind and inner feelings.
Thanks go to Hayabusa and my Secret Scotsman for the sigs.

Guys check out women because we're visually driven. That's why 99.999999% of porn is geared toward men. I agree that just because a guy checks you out doesn't necessarily mean that he finds you attractive. But he's definitely looking to see if he might find you attractive.
Well, yeah I guess, I kinda agree. I guess what I meant was more directed at being pretty as opposed to being "sexy". But I guess I sort of got a better perspective about this whole thing now.
But as far as the skinny jeans, etc., that's a different question because you don't put makeup on your legs. (At least not what is commonly thought of by us Neanderthal types as makeup - blush, lipstick, etc.) If you go with the body angle, you get into the whole proportion/golden ratio question. But in terms of just purely about the attractiveness of a woman's face, and therefore her need, or lack thereof, for makeup, I'd stand by my comments above.
Well, yes of course you don't put makeup on your legs.

Tbh, I think as long as youre not a trogolodite, a man would find anything attractive make up or not, its more about how you feel about youreself, if you feel attractive with or without, i really dont think that would make a blind bit of difference to most men folk
Unless you left whopping big orange stains on his bedsheets
And little black half moons all over the towels, which i must admit, i do everytime i wear mascara
But thats my POV as a female... so fuck knows i could be well off the mark

for me personally, the fact of if girls wear make up or not isn't a huge thing for me, tbh i find girls that look pretty without make up on quite a bit more acctrive, my ex never wore make up in the whole year and a half that we were together and she always looked beautiful, yes she at times looked really nice with some make up on but it was far from needed ever
also, i tend to find about the girls in my area is that they put on far too much make up on, and at times it can make them look horrible, the worse one is too much foundation or fake tan... yuck, sorry but it just doesn't look natural, for me make up should still let a girl look natural, it should be hard to tell that they are wearing it and or putting it on. just for me i prefer girls without make up
but that just me

Kidding, kind of. Men like women to be attractive. If you are attractive without makeup, then you may not need makeup. If the makeup makes you more physically attractive, then men will like when you wear makeup. We are very simple creatures. The guys who say "I don't like when girls wear makeup" are misleading, if not lying. They mean "I like looking at girls who are attractive enough that they don't need makeup."
This.
Ofcourse we are visually driven and like women to look good but it doesn't really matter. Line up two girls, one with and one without, and which one I chose to talk to is unlikely to be decided by the presence of make-up or not. Personally I like women who can still look stunning regardless of having make-up on or not. Infact im more interested in women who don't as it shows a confidence that many others don't have. It suggests their concern is elsewhere rather than wanting to look good for some guy, and thats interesting (and interesting can get very hot...). A woman with make-up on is not a bad thing however and can be visually interesting but its not an important thing. Women with too much make-up on can look rather unattractive also.
The lass left for home this morning without putting on her 'face' for the first time on her own accord (as in she has before but only because she did not have time to do so, this time there was plenty but she skipped it). In my eyes she still looked just as beautiful this morning than she did lastnight.
