Weird Question: is there cursing in this game?

I'm not asking for myself, btw. I just have a younger sibling that also loves Final Fantasy and that still uses my old Gameboy Advance. I'm sure we could find FFVI Advance cheap these days, but a lot of the PS1-era FF games had a lot of 'damns' and 'hells', and the kid's only 10 years old Figured someone on here who's played the game would be able to tell me if it is suitable for a kid that age. If VI has a fair amount of cursing, then I'm sure other suggestions would be welcome. Thanks!

I think the one part containing swearing was mis-translated and omitted. Kefka calls (I think) Terra a "bitch" at one point in the game, but its edited out.

It does have mature and sensitive themes. Maduin x Madonna is basically a human having a baby with some type of magical creature that has animal like characteristics could be a bit weird. Kefka has by far the best lines and quotations in the game which may make him seem the most charismatic and he does a ton of unethical and immoral things which could send the wrong message considering the coolest character in the game is a complete psychopath.

Its a great game, but I don't know if I had kids I don't know that I would want them playing it at age 10. Maybe, I'm too conservative / restrictive? I really can't say!

hmmm, thanks for the input. So long as the language isn't a problem it might not be a big deal, but I hadn't thought about the story elements. Not like a GBA game is going to be very graphic or anything, but still. Doesn't sound too conservative/restrictive to me

Well Tbh I started playing final fantasies when I was as young as 8. It didnt do me any wrong. Final fantasy games are not only games they are like books that transmit important values such as friendship, loyalty, courage and selflessness. FF6 deals with Irl troubles such as suicide, teen pregnancy and grief over a loved one's death. These issues are lightly featured in the game. If there is a couple of hell words in there (which I dont consider hell to be a swear word anyway), Im sure your kid wont even notice while he is so engaged in that world of fantasy and mystery and pure awsomeness. When he grows older he will remember the games he played on your GBA and he is going to say "I had a heck of a childhood".

But no there was no cussing as far as I remember

My memory isn't what it used to be, though.

The GBA version omits most of the more risque statements like Edgar's mentioned above and Kefka's "son of a submariner".

I played this game when I was very young and can only remember the deaths of particular characters being rough (I cry at games to this day haha).

The advance version retains the line, but it's now "he'd kill his best friend for a nickel" and "son of submariner" has become "son of a sandworm" They also changed the scene with Celes' imprisonment. I don't recall any swearing in either the SNES or GBA English release.
