Yeah, I'm not very familliar with the shoutbox. Usually everyone is in the middle of a conversation about something random which gets a reply every 5-10 minutes and I tried to join in once or twice (in the past 5 years) and usually was ignored :S Plus, not knowing many people makes it awkward. Jumping into the shoutbox suddenly feels like invading an intense conference.
