Fantasia is a castle city renowned for it's aesthetic beauty. Yet even the most beautiful city in the region is not free of political intrigue. It's King, Edel the White, is a mere puppet of a much more powerful organization named "Final".
Final had been in power for almost a decade, controlling all aspects of the city. Be it in the areas of finance and foreign affairs, or in the areas of city development and cleanliness. That said, they are a crime syndicate after all. Crimes do occur but these are usually swept under the carpet to maintain the pristine facade that the syndicate had painstakingly created. To be fair, Final has done a commendable job at maintaining the city thus far.
King Edel was helpless throughout this time. He had all the rights, but he had no say. Useless, but well fed. That is, until he coincidentally comes into contact with the mercenary group named Genesis.
Genesis is a well known mercenary group that works for anyone who could pay. An idealistic group; Genesis believes strongly in upholding moral integrity at the cost of life. Their feud with Final stems from the firm belief of the association of Final with crime (and stereotypically, evil). They approached King Edel with the promise of a successful revolt that would help the King regain his political powers. Whether or not they succeed is another matter.
How Things Roll
Players may choose between the side of the mercenary group or the crime syndicate. There is little difference between the two, aside from the ideology and control of the city.
Characters for this role play is not restricted in any way. I'd greatly appreciate if it were kept to the medieval age, but I won't mind guns.... I probably won't mind cyborgs from the future either.. >.>
Magic exists in this setting, and is in fact part and parcel of every citizen's life. Magic is split into two types: combative and basic. Combative should be self-explanatory. This is the type that many role players would go after, I'm guessing.
Basic magic is like a harmless version of combative magic. Almost every citizen is provided an extremely basic level of magical skills. For example, starting a simple fire, collecting water from the surrounding air to drink... Basically anything survival related and that is not able to seriously harm anyone.
Feel free to go creative on character design. Of course, the usual rules still apply (no God-modding, meta-gaming... etc).
You can choose any position in either the mercenary group or the crime syndicate.
Both factions do not have any specific names for their rank and file. They merely call their members by "rank number". Zero is the most powerful, reserved for the bosses... And unfortunately not available to players.
Possible ranks for players start from 1 to 10. Each of the ranks have a corresponding number of possible places. This means that only one person can be a Rank 1, and two people could be Rank 2, and three people could be Rank 3... etc. These ranks are ordered by combat strength, with 1 being the most powerful. However, this does not mean that 10 is the weakest in the organization.
There are still Rank 11 to 15, and the number of possible places for those are unlimited. Feel free to choose any of the ranks. To be fair, this position taking would go by a first-come-first-served basis. Though, it might also be interesting to note that these positions are "earned", meaning that anyone can challenge the person for his Rank.
IE. Rank 2 challenges Rank 1 for his position. Rank 2 wins, and is promoted to Rank 1. Rank 1 is demoted to Rank 2.
It's almost an exchange of position should the challenge succeed. There is no real loss for losing a challenge... Aside from a blow to a person's pride, I suppose.

Main Droite (MD for short)
Undisclosed. Likely in late 20s.
MD's right arm may seem like a normal human arm, but it is gifted with supernatural endurance, strength and agility. On top of that, while the arm negates all magic from an external source, it is highly compatible with any enchantments that MD choose to cast upon himself. While the arm is capable of negating magic, it is not impervious to physical blows.
Should MD deem it necessary, he can draw blood from his arm by making a small cut wound around his wrist. The blood serves as a magical enhancement tool that he may further use to unleash his strongest spell, "Right Path". This spell bestows an uncanny foresight upon MD, allowing him to predict his opponent's move without fail. However, during the duration of this spell, his right arm loses it's supernatural traits and is further weakened by the loss of blood.
MD's personal training regime has allowed him to last a full minute with the spell. Any longer would induce greater weakness due to the profuse loss of blood. Once he concludes the spell, the wound seals itself.
"Offensive Magic Level 2"
MD attended Fantasia's University of Magic for some time before he dropped out to join Genesis. During his time as a student of magic, he picked up offensive magic up to level 2, and is capable of casting medium level offensive and enchantment spells. His most commonly used spells are:
The element enchantments grants him an affinity for the specific element, and also allows his weapon to release an arc of energy at his enemies.
MD thought to his amusement that the irony would be interesting and thus named his weapon as such. Lefty is a 0.9m long sword made of Fantasian Ore - known, currently, to be the best ore to use in making a sword. It is not only light and durable, but it also has a strong affinity for magic. Aside from that, it's nothing out of the ordinary. Lefty is about 10 years old and is treated like a living object by MD.
Common first impressions include the notion that he is an anti-social personality who broods very single second of his life. That is completely far off from reality. MD is good-natured and fairly amiable when necessary. However, he is a terrible public speaker and appears to have a mortal fear of public speaking.
His achieved position as Rank 1 in a famous organization developed in him a high self-esteem. This may come off as cocky to some but he is quick to clarify that should he observe any negative feelings towards him.
MD was born in Fantasia to parents who were both senior Castle Mages. Their strong affinity with magic caused him to take interest in magic and pursue that path later on in his life. This interest was further increased by the realization that his right arm is far from normal. His life went on without incident until he reached university. In his second year, he was personally sought out by Genesis' very own leader, Lisette.
Convinced by the latter's charm and magical strength, he decided to join the mercenary group against the wishes of his parents. In doing so, he abandoned his past identity and took on a new one as Main Droite. Within Genesis, he started out slow, participating in small missions until he was confident enough to try the harder ones.
Slowly, his confidence grew with his self-developed fighting style. He decided to contest for the rank positions in Genesis. His first attempt was an utter defeat. However, that pushed him to try even harder to improve his own fighting style. It is around this period that he developed "Right Path", and with that, he easily climbed the ranks.
In a matter of a week, he defeated all the Ranked members from 10 to 1 and rightfully laid claim to the top position. He has since held on to the position without contest for a few years.
At the present time, he has reached the Mercenary Guild of Fantasia where he prepares to start his mission.
