I purchased the smiley from vBShop, but I don't know what to do from there. You know, like how to actually add my own emote.

That's an admin job, so you'll so need either Mitsuki or Tyler to do that for you.

i believe you need to talk to shu or Mits and supply them them with a pic of what you'd like the smiley to be and they will handle the rest

im sure theres a thread somewhere that explains it better though....

It's kind of like a currency to use in the site's vBShop (third link from the right on that tab above). You can use the points to buy a few perks from the vBShop such as a larger PM inbox, a 150x150 pixel avatar, and if you have enough to spare, an emote of your own.

You get points by generally being active. Posting, being in the SB, tagging, and I'm sure thread rating as well would all build up points at varying rates.
