Rior Laistan
Black Mage Village - Outskirts
The little boy before him had no right to deny him of his new goal. This was going to be his journey and he would continue it, with or without Lan and his map.
Obviously Oeilvert was out of the question for now, they didn't have an airship... they didn't really have anything but their two feet, the poor feet would have to take them miles before they reached anywhere of any importance.
Rior remained silent for a while, mulling over what to do, when the two genomes finally reached the sea. He lifted his head which was previously tilted towards the ground and took in the sight. It was amazing, the water was sparkling, it smelt salty, the sand was soft. He smiled, he'd never felt so good in his entire life. He then turned to Lan, an expression of confidence on his face.
"You don't have to agree with my reasons, you don't have to like it and you don't have to come with me, but I am going to do something with my life...I've spent far too long...eighteen years exactly, doing nothing, absolutely nothing. I've heard the Tales of Zidane Tribal, he started as nothing...well...he was born for something, but he didn't know that.." Rior paused before taking a few steps towards the ocean.
"I could be born for something too...and just not know it. But what I do know is I am going to prove myself by helping out in this war. People pledge themselves to the guard all the time, I'll just cut the line and meet with them in the battle field. Now, since Oeilvert is out of the question, how's about Clerya? Can we get there?"
He began to walk again, now in the direction of Fossil Roo. Lan had pointed out the location earlier. His spirits were lifted. His tail was raised and wagged happily and he had an incredible air of self confidence about him. He'd deluded himself into thinking that going to join the army was the best thing to do and nothing was going to stop him.
"Well hurry along then." He called to the boy "If you're coming with me you'd better pick up your pace... and hurry up and tell me the location of Clerya, we don't have all day!" His voice was light hearted.
