FFXIII-2 Discussion Thread

Everybody seems to be disliking the new costume of Lighting, but I dunno. I like it. I guess it's the whole medieval look setting. But at the moment, I didn't like the original FF XIII, but I'm really interested in this for some reason, I don't know... it just seems different.

Lightning's coustume...I dont know,I just dont like it as much as her old outfit.it's just too over the top I guess.
But Im gonna be disappointed if it's all about Lightning.hope they bring back the original cast and add a few new characters :S

I like the outfit. As someone said, this game may be going back to its roots, i.e. medieval setting, especially that Lightning is now in a different dimension (apparently).

But this is precisely the bad thing about having a different dimension. We may not be able to hear or see the old characters. We also won't be able to see the places in pulse, etc.

Then again, new dimension means that they inevitably have to create new places. Thus it may not be like X-2 where most of the areas are copies from X.

My wishlist:
-No solo playing. I want to use other characters too, not just lightning.
-don't

bring back vanille and fang.

As much as I like them, reviving them is just like reviving tidus, which ruins the story of the original game.
-either world map OR map system like FFXII with part-explorable, part-maze, part-linear
-more interactable objects.
-completely new sophisticated battle. I don't quite like the previous one
-sophisticated and customizable levelling up system
-Serah as playable character, specialising in white magic since

is gone.
-If other previously playable characters are not playable, then at least give us glimpses of them.
-Towns/resting places that actually allow buying and selling of items, resting.
-NO auto-heal after battle. I like it but it makes the game too easy
-NO retry option, but make battles slightly more predictable.
-NO auto-battle.
-party leader dying does not cause game over.
-full control of all three characters
-NPCs that actually talks to YOU, not just their own random conversation.
-Choices of answers when talking to others like in old FF games.
-Party customization early in the game
-Airship that can be controlled. PLEASE!!!

Fang and Vanille are alive and will need rescuing. After calling for Lightning, Serah finds her nowhere in sight and starts to feel terribly worried and confused as tears begin rolling down her face.
Elsewhere, Lightning has a dark sea spread out before her. She possibly sees monsters in the distance, but no plants or other signs of life. She finds herself in a world of darkness and silence without any sound or color. Lightning feels as though months and years are passing in an instant. Despite the fact her five senses are probably failing her, she continues to walk onward, as if she still has to look for something important. Lightning asks, "Where am I trying to go?," but does not get an answer, as her voice disappears into the darkness

At the end of Final Fantasy XIII -Episode i-, Lightning, who felt there was still something threatening the newly acquired peace found herself in a mysterious empty dimension somewhere while searching for a way to save Oerba Dia Vanille and Oerba Yun Fang, asking herself where she is trying to go. In the first trailer of the game, Lightning, wearing a suit of armor, is seen kneeling to a crystal thone within a temple/resting place of goddess Etro before crossing swords with an unknown purple-haired male character, wielding a large, elaborate sword emanating a purple flame

Also if you took the time to read the dialects/datalogs in XIII you will learn that the Eidolons are the goddess Etro's messengers.

Now Versus's take on Etro:
According to Stella Nox Fleuret, a legend of Tenebrae says the Goddess Etro greets the souls of the deceased, and opens the door to the afterlife. When that door opens, the released souls burst out in a streak of light that ascends to heaven. It is said that when those near death are able to see that light, they are given power from the Kingdom of the Dead (although very few people are able to do so).
Stella states in a conversation with Noctis Lucis Caelum that she can see the light, and Noctis in turn can as well. Noctis guesses that both of them are dying, though little else is currently known about the goddess.

I don't like her new outfit.......But I'm guessing they should change it(if only a tad),look at what they did to Noctis,there isn't much of a significant change but they did change parts of Noctis's clothing how it is now compared to how it was in the 2006-2008 trailers.

But as for this game.........I'm worried:worry:, the only people I see buying this game are people who liked FFXIII (a fair few amount) ,the people who disliked FFXIII but are willing to give it a go (probably a really small amount of people) and the people who just wander into a game store coincidentally buying this game.

I'm sure it will be an improvement and the battle system/gameplay will be better........But because of FFXIII I don't see this game selling a lot,therefore people will miss out.

As for the story I'm also guessing SE will fuck up considering their bad reputation on sequels therefore the people who play RPG's for the story (me) will not enjoy the story as much as FFXIII's.

Funny thing here though-not everyone hated FFXIII. Some even actually liked it. I dare say more people liked than hated the game. I know I certainly was quite happy with the game over-all.

Fair enough if people didn't like the game for whatever reason, but I don't think it's right to just throw a blanket statement like "everyone thought FFXIII sucked" and run with it like it's fact, when it's not :/

I liked XIII, the only thing I was slightly disappointed with was the length of the game. It felt REALLY short.

I did have the same thought as you about what a sequel would deal with, but, I'm pretty sure that IS what the sequel will deal with, in some form.

As for the story I'm also guessing SE will fuck up considering their bad reputation on sequels therefore the people who play RPG's for the story (me) will not enjoy the story as much as FFXIII's.

SE's without a doubt is for this game to be A WHOLE LOT better than FFXIII.........even if they produce a fairly good sequel not gonna be as good as the orginal.......most people didn't even understand the story through boredom and bad story-telling in XIII (for some people having to refer to the datalog) and without understanding XIII's story I don't see a reason why they would like this game as its a sequel purely made to continue the story of XIII. VII and X are renowned for their story which there sequels have ruined........(eg. Sephiroth weak compared to AC,Yuna turned all cheery,Bought in several different characters to the VII storyline,said vegnegun posed a bigger threat than sin etc).

I disagree with the "bad story telling" in XIII. I thought it did a MUCH better job than recent previous FF's (cough X cough). Plus Datalog was SUPER helpful in understanding the story. If that was in X, then I would like X a lot more cause, heck, I'd actually understand the story

Right, but I simply pointed out the fact that it is practically inevitable that a sequel won't be as good as the original. Which may be true most of the time. However, sequels can still be good.

But to straight up say that SE has a bad reputation for sequels is beyond me. I sure hope that is an opinion on your part, because I definitely don't think any of the sequels are bad. Sure, X-2 had some things about it that weren't that great. Of all the sequels, it is probably the worst, story-wise.

I dunno, maybe it's just the way I play games. I don't let the story affect whether or not I like a game. I don't find VI's story that great, and the same goes for IX, but I like the way that they play. So maybe that's why I'm relatively welcoming when it comes to sequels.

I just know that I'm excited for XIII-2. To be completely honest, XIII was the first game that I felt really immersed in...I felt like I was there with the characters. I didn't get that feeling for any other FF game, not even IV, which is hands down my favorite. I just hope the length of the story in XIII-2 is longer, or at least feels longer, than that of XIII.

Everyone has their favorite FF though so at least try to respect that alot of people do like XIII.
