The Al Bhed have been forbidden from entering the temples, due to their distrust of Yu Yevon and all that he embodies. They became isolated, making their life out in the harsh deserts of the Deserts of Bikanel, having as little to do with the war against Sin as possible.
In time, however, they began to step forward. With their mastery of Machina, creations forbidden by the teachings of Yevon, the Al Bhed were able to build large machines such as Airships to fly the skies and bikes and hovercraft to roam the lands. They also worked on weapons to aid Spira in the war against Sin but they were shunned by the majority and worked in secret.
Years on, Braska defeats Sin and brings the Calm to Spira once more and it is still Taboo for an al Bhed to step into a house of Yevon. However, the threat of Sin is looming once more and the fate of Spira lies upon the shoulders of Summoner Kaiya.
Kaiya is different to the other Summoners. If she were to step into a house of Yevon with her true identity known, she would be outcast and be forced to forever wander the lands alone and lost, knowing she could have saved her lands but the pride of the Faith deprived her. Kaiya is not like other Summoners....
Kaiya is an Al Bhed.
