FXII Fishing side quest help

I can't seem to get the Cactoid compact (or w/e it is) from upstream to unlock the next place. yes i got the matamune finishing rod from gilgamesh, i have gotten nearly every trip perfect, idk why i havent gotten it yet. help please

If you did anything, then the only thing you need is luck. I got it after a few tries on my first gameplay, on the second one i took HOURS to get it...I don't think there is more to do than try...

It only has a 10% chance of being there after a perfect score, so it can take a while.

Good side to that is, plenty of gil from Ada for the fish you catch. (make sure you sell to her rathar than a shop, as she pays more)
