FF7 PC Patches & Stuff

I was wondering if anyone playing the Final Fantasy VII PC version needed help with installing the patches or was having issues with them, I recently got my Sephiroth Patch working, and playing as Sephiroth is really cool, and kinda...weird....but basically this was my reaction .

Yes their is, if you want I'd be glad to help you . First download via torrent something called FF VII Neat Compilation of patches and mods.

1. If you dont have a torrent program download one, i use Azureus which is now called Vuze, however uTorrent works nicely also.

2. When asked to Save or Open, choose either and wait till the thing downloads, its a small file, so it shouldn't take long.

3. Open the file, and go to the NPC recon patch, if you've never done modding before, then post when you can, cuz i dont wanna spend 10-20 mins typing up detailed insturctions

4. After doing the NPC recon patch, run the Sephiroth patch

5. Enjoy!

I got the PC version of this game too but I can't get it to run under XP. FF7 used to worked fine before I upgraded Windows to the XP version.

So how I get FF7 working on my comp that uses Windows XP?

Right-click on the program, the on that is installed in program files, choose properties, click the compatibility tab, and check the box that says " run this program in compatibility mode for" and choose windows 98. Try running it again and it should work.

Tiel way can work but only for a time because as you progress in the game you'll encounter errors so it's advised to Install XP patch you can find it on the internet download and there should be a way on how to use it.

I use Vista, and everything runs fine. I suggest you get the FF7 Patches and Mods thing i listed above, and add the 1.02 Official Patch, its very simple to add, you just open the patch folder, and replace your .exe and config with the folders contents, the XP Patch has caused problems for some. I neglected to mention you need the 1.02 Patch if you want to play as Sephiroth, or just have your NPC's and Cloud more detailed, without lego block arms. Ill post a pic later of the Sephiroth patch at work.

OK thanks guys, I finally managed to get the game working though I now have another problem.

Sometimes when I am playing the game, it crashes occassionally due to a Win or something like it error.

Is there any way to get rid of those errors?

I don't really wanna use the patch that you mentioned on the first post. I have read the contents of that patch, it kinda feels like cheating imo and I wanna beat the game legit, you know the old fashioned way.

Be a little more specific, does the game while your playing just exit to Windows, and say the game has stopped working?

And as far as the patch is concerned get the 1.02 Official Patch, its not cheating ;).
