Who here, took their time to breed a Gold Chocobo so they could go to the unmarked island to pick up the Knight of the Round summon just for the final Jenova and Sephiroth battle, or who just levelled up a lot and not bothered with the chocobo breeding?
 
I always do the Chocobo Breeding and get a Gold one, aswell as pick up KotR. I don't use it though, makes things too easy IMO.

Mainly I found the KOTR summon to be useful in killing those annoying tonberries in FFVII. Little persistant bastards.
 
I did it, I enjoy breeding & racing chocobos so I do it everytime & get the KoTR, I never got it for the Jenova/Sephiroth battles though, I got it for Emerald & Ruby weapon, although I got luck with all lucky 7's on emerald anyway, and Ive still yet to beat Ruby

Next play through that thing is 'avin it >_>
 
I did the whole chocobo sidequest, and without a guide too! ^^ I was only 12 at the time but I managed to figure it out since I was really determined to get the most of everything. The gold chocobo is kick-ass!

Um..just how do intend on fighting Ruby Weapon, becuase it takes a lot of effort to defeat him/her with regular weapons & attacks....consequently this is how i got my first gold chocobo and from it i bread a whole slew of s rank chocobos, yet no matter how much i tried my niece always got the faster ones....that little $^%$&#, anyway it can take upto 2 hours to beat ruby weapon with regular attacks and you have to power upto lvl 99 and even then u need 5+ plus hero drinks & omni slash I would also suggest u wear the Mystle armour to give you the added evasion bonuses...oh and it may go with out saying but u really need the Ultima Weapon and the Touph ring as an accesory not to mention equipping the added effect materia with Hades to gain status defencs bonuses....phew... anyway chocobo's are really cool they should have chocobo racing in every ff game!!
 
The truth of the matter is trying to vanquish Ruby Weapon and Emerald Weapon without KOTR is virtually nigh-on impossible. You’ll get absolutely creamed. Ultimately, the only reason why I spent hours breading my chocobos was to obtain KOTR in order to vanquish Ruby and Emerald. You would have to be either spectacularly brave or spectacularly stupid to face off against Ruby without having KOTR.
 
I never bothered with it. I had no luck getting decent chocobos, so I got fed up and left it at that.
 
I did the chocobo breeding as well. I enjoyed the naming and the capturing. :wacky: It felt good once you get the beautiful gold chocobo and go wherever. Knights of the Round is a great summon. I didn't use it for the final battles though. Cloud's Slash-All was more than enough. :neomon:

Not really. I've defeated Emerald WEAPON without KotR (nore hardly any of the common 'recommended' set-ups) before. Wasn't even a particularly hight level either, I just made use of my Materia combo's well. Ruby is a different matter all together though ¬¬
 
I didn't bother during my first play through, since I just wanted to play through the game once to say I had done it. This second time around, though, I may definitely try it. :D
 
I haven't done this in ages (not since my second play infact) I am considering doing it again. It is fun
 
I never did it, I can just never be screwed doing such time consuming stuff in a game. I did however exploit a glitch to get Quadra Magic.

With that said though I might try and get the Gold Chocobo if I ever decide to play this game again.
 
I took the time to do this. It was awesome after I did too. I beat the final boos in 3 hits from Knights of the Round. It was insanity. I always thought before that the final boss was hard too.
 
I loved breeding chocobos. It was one of my favorite things about VII. Dominating everyone on the track was a great feeling. Winning, then going to make myself a sandwich, eating the sandwich, taking a nap, waking up, and finally witnessing the person coming in second made my day(s). I did not, however, us KotR on any form of Sephiroth or on Jenova. But that was because I like Bahamut Zero more.
 
I've never done any Chocobo breeding. I've just never gotten round to it, and it would annoy me far too much...

If it's the same one I'm thinking of then it's something to do with landing the Highwind in a specific way in a specific spot that allows you to get off and walk to the cave without the need of a Blue/Black/Gold Chocobo. I think I've only ever done it once just to try it out but this would be YEARS ago so can't say exactly. I just breed for a Gold Chocobo to be honest, it's not that difficult.
