Most of us around here probably either own or have access to an Android phone/tablet or iPhone/iPad or perhaps even Blackberry or Windows Phone, so let's talk favorites! No, I don't mean start a debate about which is better (please don't, actually).

What are your favorite or most used apps on your platform, and why?

For starters, here's a few of mine:

  • AndrOpen Office (Android) - I've got a 600-ish page novel I'm trying to edit, and some days I don't get to sit down and put a lot of serious work into it. AndrOpen Office is a direct port of Open Office for Android, so it handles such a large, Word-formatted document with relative ease. It's not really touch friendly, but the utility value is unbeatable for me.
  • Evernote (Android/iOS/Windows/Mac/anything) - For smaller writing projects I usually stick with Evernote because it's quicker to use than office software and synchronizes with all my devices. I also have quite a library of notes, so the search function is wonderful.
  • AppTrailers (Android/iOS) - Watch a couple trailers, get a couple points. When you've earned enough, you can redeem the points for gift cards to just about any place imaginable. I've literally gotten hundreds of dollars through this service over the last couple of years, but it definitely isn't some get-rich-quick scheme, nor is it easy, nor is it scam free. If you're careful and learn how to navigate the oddities of the app, it's pretty useful, though.
  • Blogger (Android/iOS) - Every week I write a new post for my tech website, ThinkBoxly, which runs on Google's Blogger service. Most of the time I write up the posts on my phone using the Blogger app, so then when post day comes I just have to format everything. Definitely an important player in my weekly schedule.
  • Avabel Online (Android/iOS) - Haven't played this one so much lately but I've sunk a decent number of hours into it in the past. Definitely the best MMORPG available for mobile devices right now, IMO.
  • Clock - Well...yeah.

My more popular iPad Mini apps include:

  • SketchBookX <-- although the larger real-estate screen of the bigger iPad would have been better for this
  • Procreate <-- it's a sketch/artwork app. It's got nothing to do with uhh, procreating, FYI.
  • Evernote
  • iA Writer
  • Facebook
  • Youtube
  • Dolphin browser
  • Kindle
  • iPhoto
  • Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic <-- until I completed it. Again.
  • Breach & Clear
  • Theatrhythm: Final Fantasy

Facebook is probably my most-used app, admittedly. It would be iA Writer because I keep notes from seminars and from spontaneous brainstorms in there, but my eyes stay on Facebook more than they do at my own typed-up crap. >.>

Contract for my first model Nokia Lumia is just about to end, and I'm thinking of retiring it for an Android phone. It'll be my first Android device, so I haven't seen the range of Android apps in store. I'm hoping to get a new Nexus 5 because the internet is chirping about it excitedly, and for £300 upfront for something that is supposedly top-of-the-range with stock Android, I decided to go for it. First thing I'll probably do is see what customisation downloads are available.

For my iPhone 5:

  • Scatterbrain - This defines me well. Love the color-coded groups for whatever, really. It's very simple to use and I can customize/organize my thoughts freely.
  • Instagram
  • Facebook
  • Twitter
  • WhatsApp - International texting, yes please. Also have my brother here since he has a Samsung phone, so all our texts are free now.
  • Tango (only because my brother harassed me to download this so he can see his niece and nephew - just not his sister)
  • Google Drive - Basically, I would die if I lose all the documents stored here...
  • Gratitude365 - Actually paid for this one for a few dollars. Nice way to give a small moment of 'thanks' throughout the day...and have it all recorded, which is a bonus. Love this app.
  • Music - use it for work, mainly
  • Groupon
  • OneNote / Evernote (I used to use Evernote on my iPod Touch) I really should just decide which one I like best.
  • Cause of Death by EA - Been playing this for a few years now.
  • Clash of Clans
  • Trade Nations - Been playing this for a few years now too.
  • Township
  • Dragon City
  • FFXIV Libra

For my Samsung Galaxy Tab 2:

  • Netflix
  • Crunchyroll
  • Dropbox
  • Plague Inc (lol...)
  • HootSuite
  • Google Drive (again)

...And bunch of random crap for this one.

There's also my Kindle, but I haven't used that for awhile. Only when I'm reading books, really.

I have an Asus-Google Nexus 7 32GB (2013) tablet and a LG G4 smartphone. Same stuff on both.

My favorites -

  • Summoners' War: Sky Arena
  • Puzzle & Dragons
  • Zombie Defense
  • Heavenstrike

Others I use often (or are active 24/7 utilities) -

  • Handcent SMS
  • Skype
  • Kik
  • WhatsApp
  • Amazon
  • Lookout
  • Malwarebytes
  • Mr. Number
  • Smart Launcher 2
  • Swiftkey Keyboard

I have a shitty Coolpad Diamond with the following apps.

Most used apps :

-Facebook
-YouTube
-WhatsApp
-Darkness Reborn
-Google Chrome
-Gmail

Other apps :

-Clean Master
-DU Battery Saver
-Carribean Cinema
-CM Security
-Hive
-Messenger
-Google+
-Drive
-Play Games
-Hangouts
-Ringtone Maker
-TouchPal X

I'm bored! Not sure if they're all my favorite or most used but I jotted down the semi-interesting ones and left out the more embarrassing ones

For my iPhone 11:

-Audible
-Apollo - For browsing reddit w/o ads
-Amazon
-Baby Camera App - For spying
-Discord - Been using this more (but mostly in other places with people I know 🤷‍♀️ Cause I'm still a tiny bit shy I guess)
-Dropbox
-eBay
-Facebook
-Facebook Messenger - Only 'cause I sell stuff on FB 🤷‍♀️
-Find My - Map of friends' location who use this. I think this is now included with the phone, when before you had to download it?
-Google Translate - Use this more often than I thought I would
-Hulu/Netflix
-Instagram
-Mangareader/Manga Rock - For reading Manga
-Meijer - For virtual coupons when shopping at this store
-NCPMobile - Scan purchases to earn points because that's what I'm doing with my life right now
-Photoshop Fix/Mix
-Pokemon Go
-TeamViewer - Is this ancient technology now?
-Toreba - I won two new items this month for free
-Triple Triad - I only play when I'm sitting idle for a while.
-Twitch
-Youtube
-WhatsApp

Apparently my phone tells me how much I'm on it and breaks down what categories I use most. Kinda disgusted with myself on how much I'm on my phone, but at the same time I feel like that I'm not actually on my phone that much 🤷‍♀️
