I am playing the Trial version, thinking of purchasing as it has been fun. I have played 3 toons until I can't find any more quests. So after about level 20 where are the quests? Is it the trial that runs out or I just haven't looked in the right place.

First off welcome! This is the general Final Fantasy section by the way. Since it's in the general FF section by the way you describe it I'm assuming that you're talking about FFXIV. As for the trial itself you still have a ways to go. I THINK the trial ends at level 35 in terms of story progression so you can level up to 35 until then but once the story quests get up to level 35 then you won't be able to progress until you buy the game.
As for your current situation you've probably just stopped doing the story at some point. Quests will eventually stop showing up until you make progression on the story. Check your Journal to see what else you have to do in terms of the Story Quests.
