_____________________________________________________________

THE HISTORY
Crystair, a land once ruled by a kind and gracious King. For endless centuries, the same bloodline forever sat upon the crystal throne, and the kingdom eternally flourished. It was a beautiful land, with silvery trees and lakes of the clearest, shimmering blue. To the east, on the glittering horizon, one would see the dark spire that represented the land of Umbra, its tip forever shrouding in its perpetual darkness. To the West lay Precipia, land of the winged ones, though they had long since gone into hiding.

There had long been a legend told to the children of Crystair; a fabled story of the one known only as “Lionheart”. In these stories he was a courageous man with the bravery of a hundred men and the ability to control the purest of light. It is said that with this light, “Lionheart” could destroy the darkest of evils, cleanse the hearts of the weary and relay messages of the recently deceased. But the children did not believe these stories, after all, surely such a great man could not exist?

Perhaps the most skeptical of all who heard these stories was the young Crown Prince. Even at the age of four, he found these ‘tall tales’ just a little hard to digest. On the one hand, he wished such a man existed, for the war with Umbra would finally come to an end and his parents wouldn’t keep him literally under lock and key. But another part of him knew such people were not real, that these heroes were nothing more than characters in stories to aid the children of the world to sleep easier and feel safer.

Umbra, the land of eternal darkness, an evil and foreboding place. No good had ever crossed its border with Crystair and for many centuries, the two kingdoms had been locked in war. However, a new power was rising in that gloom, driving towards the highest seat of power offered to it. In just one short year, he rose to the top and killed the current Queen in cold blood. Umbra know had a new king, a man so dark that even the shadows quaked in his wake. And yet he waited, biding his time. He knew that soon, his opportunity would come to take the eternally beautiful kingdom of Crystair.

Just after the Prince’s fourth birthday, a strange, bloodstained child was found wandering the village just outside the castle. A dagger gripped in her hand, the child was easily mistaken as an orphan of war. However, she had not merely found the dagger after witnessing her parents’ demise; rather she had indulged in the murder of a rather offensive man who seemed to think that she would return to his home with him by tempting her with sweet things. The young boy that found her did not think of things this way however. A brave child, he approached the girl and guided her to his house where she was quickly cleaned up and fed.

For four years, the girl refused to speak and the family into which she had been adopted feared that perhaps the child was dumb. Yet, she squashed this belief when she spoke the name of the boy who had saved her, and taken her under his wing. For a further four years, the girl spoke only to her new Brother, and would often follow him to watch him as part of the Royal Guard. It was on these little trips that the girl often saw the young Prince, and in time, she went with her Brother more to catch glimpses of the boy rather than to watch the training. The girl was slightly envious that her Brother seemed to be on quite friendly terms with the handsome young Prince.

And still the Tyrant and his Dark General, a man clad in dark armor who was believed to be no more human than shadow, waited. The Prince reached twelve and with it came the awakening of his inner light. A single soldier survived the attack up the Umbran border, only to die upon making it to the throne room. The Prince, however, was able to relay the message of the recently deceased warrior to his father, thus preventing the dark forces from invading Crystair’s border villages. The Queen, now fearful because of this show of power, appealed to the girl’s adopted parents. By this point, her wings had sprouted, revealing her to be of the Winged Ones bloodline, and the Queen, knowing the ferocity and skill of these naturally born assassins, knew the Prince would be in safe hands.

And so the Prince and the Assassin finally met. The Brother was promoted to Commander of the Royal Guard shortly after and three grew closer. It would be this bond that proved to be essential just six years later. Finally the time had come for the Tyrant to take Crystair and he did so with little to no resistance. Having waited so long in the darkness of Umbra, his forces had grown to outnumber those of Crystair and so it was not so much an invasion as a massacre. Yet the Prince, the Assassin and her Brother fought valiantly, getting to the throne room seconds to late.

The King and Queen lay slaughtered, Crystair’s new ruler sitting upon the throne. Upon resting eyes upon the Prince, the Tyrant ordered his death. However, the Assassin lived up to her title of the Prince’s personal bodyguard by dispatching of all who came his way. Not that she needed to worry, for she had learnt over the years that the prince was a very capable swordsman.

And so our story starts here, with the Prince, his bodyguard and the brother being chased from their lands by an army of Dark Soldiers. A handful of Crystair Loyalists find themselves following the Prince, even as the Dark soldiers close in. The commander of the Royal Guards orders the others to run whilst he fends off the soldiers, possibly trying to make up for the death of his King and Queen and his inability to save them.

The others listen to the commanders words, making a break for the border.

But what will become of them now?

Darkness and Light are restricted to the main characters

The Winged Ones

A race of beings that were created by the gods to be the perfect assassin. But, the gods had not counted upon the effects that taking so many lives would inflict upon them. Over time, the Winged Ones lose themselves with each kill the perform, until when they hit maturity (which is said to be around 19 years of age) they transform into demons of pure darkness, losing any shred of humanity they may have had left.

The Winged Ones vary in appearance, but always gain wings around the age of 13. Typically these wings are black but few have been known to sprout purple, blue or even green. The wings are always dark in color. Besides this, up until their transformation, Winged Ones look very much like the average human apart from the wings for which they got their name.

Name: The Tyrant, Eurynome Rhade (known as Rhade)
Age: 45
Race: Human (for now :wacky:)
Gender: Male
Weapon: Unknown (Greatsword, to be described in RP)
Title: King of Umbra, King of Crystair (self-declared)
Element: Darkness
Starting Ability: Shadow Flare (Powerful purple flames are projected from the Tyrant's blade)

Physical Description: If a single word could describe the appearance of Eurynome Rhade, it would be: IMPOSING. Rhade is tall and powerfully built, standing at 6'4" (~1.9m) and weighing about 260 lbs (~118 kg). He is powerfully muscled from years of combat and waging war. He normally wears a suit of mystical onyx plate mail that has a dark red sheen...from the blood of his countless enemies. When entering battle, Rhade also wears a matching helmet. His face is well-defined, with a pointed chin that further enhances his imposing figure. He has short blonde hair, a short blonde beard, and small, piercing green eyes.

Personality: Rhade is absolutely soulless. He desires one thing: more power. He will do whatever it takes to achieve this goal, and thus acts with no moral compass whatsoever. Furthermore, he treats most others as simple stepping stones to achieve his goals. He treats his subordinates as little more than tools...with the exception of the Dark General, who is likely the only person who lives that he shows respect for. Overall, Rhade is cold, heartless, and egotistical.

History: Rhade was born years ago in Umbra. At the age of six, his parents came home to find that he had brutally slaughtered the family's pet dog. His parents, horrified, sent him away to an orphanage. After spending a year there among the other orphans, another child made the mistake of poking fun at Rhade. The next morning, his body was found, eviscerated and slashed. The seven-year-old Rhade was nowhere to be found, and the orphanage didn't bother looking for him.

Rhade resurfaced at the age of sixteen when he appeared to sign up for the military. Given Umbra's propensity to warfare, the military officals made no mind to the fact this young man had no apparent identity. Rhade rose through the ranks quickly, gaining respect...and a devoted following. His coldhearted approach to warfare brought him many victories, and a reputation for ruthlessness. While Rhade was repeatedly promoted, there was only one seat that he truly wanted...the throne.

During a gala which was thrown to celebrate Rhade's promotion to High Commander, the coup took place. All of the guards and military men in attendance were under Rhade's control...and those loyal to the Queen were swiftly murdered. Rhade finally sat on the throne of Umbra...but another target still awaited. Crystair was a continued thorn in the side of Umbra, and Rhade decided that he would hold their throne as well.

With Rhade, a military genius, as King; Umbra's armies began to advance. Within a few short years, the tides had turned, and the capital of Crystair was invaded. Rhade had the pleasure of seeing the frightened looks on the faces of the King and Queen as he drove his blade through their bodies. He sat on the throne, triumphant, only to see the Crown Prince escape right from under his nose. Rhade knew that he would have to exterminate this last threat...only then could his grip on the world be complete...

Nel? why no more female named characters?

Name: Alyss Lissesul

Age: 19

Race: Elf

Gender: Female

Sexual Preference: Asexual (Though, she would prefer women)

Position/title/occupation: Cook/Guard

Allegiance: Lawful Good

Weapon: Panzer and Dragoon – Small, lightweight, and fast, these duel katana’s. They are identical.
IMG_0162.jpg

Class: Spellsword

Element: Lightning

Starting Ability: Lightning Shot – Through her fingers, she can shoot lightning from her fingertips at a target. As she uses katana’s, she can use them to conduct her lightning through for a straighter aim. It can wound an enemy severely, but isn’t strong enough to kill as of yet.

Physical Description:
34h8010.jpg

Alyss is rather small, standing in at 5,4. Her hair is long and silver, like most Elves. She often ties her hair back in a large pony tail to keep it out of her face when cooking or fighting. Her eyes are rather dark brown, and unremarkable when in comparison to the rest of her race. She wears a long robe that is very lose at the bottom to promote leg movement in combat. Up top, it’s loose enough to permit comfort. The sleeves are rather long, and very loose so that her arm movements and direction that they’re facing can remain hidden from an enemy, catching them off guard most of the time.

Personality: Alyss is very calm, and very nice natured. She treats others with respect, even if they may disrespect her. She enjoys cooking very much, and no matter what happens, cooking will calm her down no matter what. She’s typically clear-headed and unbiased towards anything. She’s somewhat shy, she tends to only speak when she needs to, or is spoken to. Her voice is gentle, matching her appearance. In combat, she fights with honor and dignity, and would never go for a cowardly approach. There are those, however, that she gets a bad vibe from and she will instantly not like. However, these are far and few in-between, meaning it’s very rare.

Most people that meet her tend to like her as she is never rude and is always as friendly as she can be. When placed in a situation she is uncomfortable with, she tends to lock up as she tries to wrap her mind around it. If ever placed in a situation where she cannot win, she will fight until she either cannot fight anymore, or to the point where it just becomes futile. If ever captured, it would take much pressure to get her to betray her kingdom.

Alyss is greatly afraid of the dark. (to be explained in history)

History: Alyss’ hatred of the Tyrants comes from an early age. When she was young, Tyrant soldiers broke into her home and killed her Mother. Her Father had abandoned the family years back, rendering her alone, and unable to do anything as they killed her Mother. After they were done, they were going to take her in as a slave, but were unable to do so as ordered by their commanding officer. Instead, they made her sit in a dark basement where she stayed for five days. She almost died due to having nothing to eat, and little to drink. However, another young elven man by the name of Ciridan Lissesul took her in and raised her as his own.

He would train her in sword combat, and in the art of using lightning. When she wasn’t learning how to fight, she was teaching herself how to cook. She rather enjoyed it, and to this day she still cooks something every day.

Ciridan grew eventually sick and slowly died. With nowhere else to go, she went to Crystair, and applied for a job as cook. Eventually, she got in, and cooked often. After a few guards saw her practicing with her katana’s in the courtyard, she was also accepted as a castle guardswoman, a title she holds dear.

Name: Prince Talistis Balinar (Talis)

Age: 18

Race: Human

Gender: Male

Class: Master Swordsman

Position: Prince of Crystair

Element: Light

Starting Ability: Converse. (??)

Weapon: Gabriel and Raphael two swords infused with light magic. Talis keeps them at his belt at all times, and beside his bed when he sleeps. They are quite long, intricately made rapiers, with the royal vrest on the hilt. Wickedly sharp, they can cut through flesh and dispel moderate darkness with ease. They are also able to absorb light energy to become temporarily stronger. However, the Prince usually only uses one in battle at a time. Both rapiers glow with a silver light when first drawn from their sheathes

Physical Description: Standing at five foot seven, Talis is slightly below average height, with a slender, although wiry and toned build. He has long legs but a short torso, and with the combination of this, his slender form, and quite pale skin, Talis can often be mistaken as underweight.

The Prince, unlike most royalty or nobility, has not allowed himself to become too complacent or spoiled during his upbringing. Unlike the round, fat face of most royalty, Talis has a thin, angular face, framed by thick, tousled ebony black hair and enchanting almond shaped green eyes. He has a voice that is neither particularly deep or high, though it becomes the latter in times of stress or battle.

Unlike Solstice, Talis prefers the company of clothes. In warm climates, he wears a short sleeved white shirt/t-shirt and thin grey trousers. In colder climates he will wear a black, long-sleeved, though smooth jumper and thick trousers.

In battle, Talis wears thin silver armour that allows him to breathe easily, and also allow acrobatic stunts and evasive maneuvers. He wears gauntlets and leg protectors, but abstains from a helmet. The royal crest is emblazoned on his armour and he rides into battle on a white horse to provide morale.

Personality: Before the Tyrant seized Crystair's throne, Talis was a compassionate boy, capable of showing mercy and finding peaceful solutions to many confrontations. He was often seen to become involved in legal matters, and was known throughout Crystair as: "The Compassionate Prince," and was expected to take over the Throne after the King and Queen's reigns came to an end.

However, there is no telling how the death of his parents and the seizing of his rightful place on the throne will do to him. he has often looked forward to becoming King, and was always close to his parents. now that he is completely out of his comfort zone and on the run from the Tyrant and his army, it is unknown whether he will lose the kind streak that made him so adored in Crystair.

One thing is for certain however. Talis retains one royal stereotype: stubborness. Although it rarely happens, when the Prince digs his heels in, it takes a miracle to change his mind (or Solstice to drag him away, kicking and struggling) Talis can often be seen as spoilt in the rare times this happens, and is not open to negotiation.

Also, Talis is incredibly virtuous and moral, and can often be seen as rash and impulsive in his desire to uphold the greater good. This can often land him and Solstice in trouble, and he looks back on these times of unpredicability with shame and remorse. However, it is only a matter of time before one of these moments happen again.

Talis respects the Commander and shares a strong bond with Solstice, feeling that she was the only one who saw him as anything other than the future King. Although he has strong feelings for her, Talis has not really considered and cannot comprehend the matter, and if he did, there's no telling what he would come up with.

History: Born into the Royal Family, he was trained to take over as King for when his parents' reign ended. He was immersed in court dinners, legal dramas, and other such royal matters from the age of eight onwards. however, after seeing the soldiers training in the castle grounds, he asked to train in swordsmanship. The training of a Prince in the ways of war at that age was unheard of, and the fact that he wanted to use a rapier, rather than a more masculine weapon such as a Katana, axe or mace increased the controversy among his people.

However, he soon proved the naysayers wrong when a natural talent for swordsmanship emerged. From the age of ten, The Prince trained and trained, and within four years he was a master in the ways of the sword.

It was during these four years of training that he met Solstice. Her black/silver wings unnerved him at first, although he soon grew to respect and befriend the Winged One and her adoptive brother, the Commander. They were his one true friends as he continued his training, both in the sword and in royalty.

However, when the Tyrant and his Dark General finally attacked, the Prince was forced to put his swordsmanship to the test at last, and fought his way to the Throne room with Solstice and the Commander, but it was too late. His mother and father were dead. As Solstice held back the Dark soldiers with her powerful skills, the three were forced to retreat.

I'll have my bio in soon. I can't guarantee tonight since I'm not feeling too hot right now, but you already know I'll be in this . :ryan:

Justin's accepted, obviously.

Talis also. Diar's got the handle on the vital aspect of the Prince.

Faythe is accepted. She'll be interesting to see in RP =)

My darling Ringo and Raye <333 I look forward to reading them.

What is the difference between [Class] and [Position/Occupation]? Sorry if that is a dumb question... And the spots available all seem to list Human, but my character isn't human...could he still be used in the RP?

But was there a spot available then that didn't just say Human...? I guess it should be okay, so long as Vikki doesn't say otherwise. :P So I'll try to get myself to put the bio up here before too long. :D

Class is along the lines of their general fighting talents I believe. Such as a warrior, a black mage, and other typical classes, while Position/Occupation would seem to be their place in society, and their actual job, such as mercenary, banker, doctor etc.

Also the spots above just seem to be for the roles Vikki has in mind for the story to progress. The idea of certain characters being human were probably what she came up with in planning.

The ones listed as human are MAIN characters depicted in the history.

Other characters do not have to be human. It's only those SPECIFIC ones that need to be what is listed.

Any other character can become Main but those six listed are the pivotal driving points of the entire plot. Anything they do makes a massive impact on what the rest of the characters experience. The other characters can, naturally, have an impact on this Six Characters too, but ultimately, it comes down to the actions of those few as to how certain things pan out.

Quick question - there is a town attached to the castle, correct? Just making sure before I start my bio. And sorry if this is counted as spam~

Definitely awkward moment quoted in your sig, Vikki... xP Anyways, why the caps? I hope you aren't upset with me for past RP incidents, I should hope that I am past that now. ^^;

If I have your okay to participate in this RP, I may work on my bio shortly so that is done.

Do I need to say it...

Name:
Virginia Venierno

Age:
24

Race:
Felidian

Gender:
Female

Weapon:
She carries 2 daggers, a straight-bladed dagger called "Vajera" and a curved dagger known as "Sirocco Kukri,". Virginia received the Vajera during her mercantile travels and was the primary sidearm for their soldiers from a far-eastern Kingdom. The Sirocco Kukri, she stole from an Umbran officer during the early part of the conflict. Both are rare ornate daggers that Virginia uses for combat.

Class:
Thief/Assassin

Position:
Rebel Army

Element:
Water

Starting Ability:
Aqua Edge (Creates a small stream of water from Virginia's daggers to slice the enemy with water pressure)

Physical Description:
Ffximithrathf.jpg

Virginia is 5'4" and weighs 130 lbs. She has brown hair and brown eyes. She has light brown fur with some darker brown streaks covering parts of her face and tail. Her small size allows Virginia to be blistering fast.

Virginia wears a green no sleeve jacket, with only a white bra underneath. She does wear green and brown elbow pads and leather gauntlets. Virginia wears a green leather pants with 4 pouches, 2 on each side, for items and materials. She also wears brown leather shoes

Personality:
Virginia is a carefree Felidian who believes in looking out for herself and her friends. Virginia does care for her friends, and sometimes would do what she can to help them in any situation. She is a ladylike thief, Virginia is willing to conform to the social norms of any village if it helps to benefit the rebels. Virginia is willing to steal something or from someone if it also benefits her people. She is also very cultured, having knowledge of plays and music.

She is also an assassin. The Venierno family was descended from a long line of thieves and assassin's, and Virginia is no different. She has no qualms of others dieing because of this and this made her in some cases, "a cold assassin."

History:
Virginia was born in the Kingdom of Crystair. As a young girl, she grew up listening to stories of her mother, a sly thief and merchant who managed how to make a profit even through many military conflicts from far away lands.

Growing up with these stories in mind, Virginia became a merchant thief just like her mother. She learned all the ropes of being a thief just like her mom. Using her agility and cleverness to outsmart and outpace her opponents.

Her skills came to practice as she began to trade and out-compete rival merchants both within Crystair and outside of it, bringing much needed money to her home kingdom.

However, over the course of the war with the neighboring Kingdom of Umbra, a battle took place in Virginia's Hometown that led to her mother's death. Fueled by vengeance, she took up her blades and joined the Royal Crystair Army as a scout. Despite her best efforts in fighting off the attackers, she failed to save the King and Queen. Virginia was ordered by the Commander to retreat with the Prince and the Assassin. Despite wanted to make sure he would be safe, Virginia complied, following the prince and assassin out of the Capital and towards the border.

Kevin; accepted.

Yes, there is a city attached to the castle. The city lies within the walls surrounding it.

Go ahead Wolfie.

Ringo <3 accepted.

What will happen if I ask her to make me a sandwich?

Not that Talis is the type to do that. :wacky: Just wondering.

On a serious note, I'm looking forward to this starting. :ryan: And so it isn't spam and Jesse doesn't go deleting my post. :ahmed:

Any objection to the Dark General being a priest type, instead of the typical warrior type we think of when we hear "general?" That question is for everybody, not just Vikki, since I don't want to screw up anyone's bio.
