Can somebody recommend a PSP game?

I usually have a bizarre craving for different kinds of games, but when it comes to portability, I have some different standards.

Right now, I'm looking for something easy going, with a story, a decent one preferably... and that's about all I'm looking for. I would PREFER an Adventure game or RPG since those are my two favourite genres. I'm looking for something easy and absorbing. Please don't re-recommend the following games that I already know are awesome: Dissidia: Final Fantasy, Final Fantasy VII Crisis Core... I already played thoooossseee D: If I want them, I'll get them.

It'd be nice if you included a mini-review of your own explaining what the game's like.

Naming a game with a decent story may be hard since our tastes in story may be different.

Castlevania: Dracula X Chronicles - 3 games in 1 with one of them being considered the best Castlevania game out right now.

Persona 3 Portable - Even if you have played this one before, playing as the Female MC makes the new playthrough worth it.

Tales of Eternia - A good Tales of game. However if you live in the US you will have to import the game.

Disgaea: Afternoon in Darkness(1) and Disgaea(2) Dark Hero Days - If you don't mind me throwing in a SRPGs. Incase you don't know the Disgaea series is well known for it's humor. AiD has better and more humor while DHD has a slightly better story and improved gameplay. Either way if you're a perfectionist, no doubt you will spend hundreds of hours trying to finish every side quest and max every character to Lv. 9999. *waits for Crimson Wolf to come and finish up*

That is all I will name for now, there is much more out there that I'd recommend but I am lazy. Sorry. :wacky:

Is Tales of Eternia in Japanese? Because I can't understand any other language except 1/5000th of French and of course, English.

I've played Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor on the Nintendo DS, is it anything like that? (If it's better than Devil Survivor, then I'd probably eat Persona 3. But if it's a sequel to something in the middle of a storyline, if ANY of those games are like that then I probably wouldn't enjoy playing them. :\

Lord of the Rings Tactics was fairly good. Basically it's a game with a sort of turn-based strategy battle system in 3D and um... that's pretty much the whole game. The graphics are pretty good and you won't really spend an overly long period of time having to do anything, which is kind of good.

The reception of this game is a bit questionable but if you can get it for like $10, it might be worth a try. The locations are pretty good.

Nope, ToE is available in Europe in english. That's what I meant.

I can't say anything about DS since I haven't played it yet but P3 is highly refered to as one of the best RPGs for the PS2. There may be small references in the game to the SMT games but I didn't notice anything major. Overall though P3 is a non-related prequel

I wholly endorse the above mentioned Castlevania: Dracula X Chronicles and Persona 3 Portable. Loved them a lot. Retro side-scroller charm for Castlevania and SIMs/RPG for P3P.

For P3P, the game is pretty much standalone, so you don't have to worry about playing P1 or P2. P3P is basically a port of the PS2 version of P3, but with loads of extra goodies, including a whole new female POV of events, and it definitely changes dynamics up xD

It's a turn based command style RPG, so it should be easy to get a hang of.

And if you played Devil Survivor, you might like other strategy RPGs. I urge you to check out Final Fantasy Tactics: War of the Lions, or Jeanne D'arc. Awesome games with one of the best stories I've played through with equally amazing characters to them ♥

Also, I think Star Ocean First Departure and Star Ocean Second Evolution are worth checking out too.

EDIT: Yeah, PSP is region free. It's why imports rates went up when it came out :wacky:

You should give Metal Gear Peace Walker a try and become the epicness which is Big Boss. Personally i've had it downloaded for awhile but i've been way to busy to spend time on my psp unfortunately, but from what i've played it's as bad ass as the rest. Abit of tactical stealth and action, taking down an army pretty much by yourself while at the same time creating your own army. The story is split into missions instead of one continuous mission so it's alot better for portable play when you're on the go.

Yes the PSP is region free so you can import all you want with no drawbacks. The PS3 and DS are also region free incase you didn't know. If you have no problem ordering online, check amazon/ebay. Some sellers already have it and that should cut the wait time by at least half.

I thought of another recommendation...

Little Big Planet. A lot of people seem to like this game. If you have a PS3 and aren't set on going portable, you might want to get the PS3 version instead... but there is also a PSP version with pretty good scores.

I think it's in 2.5D and it's... a little strange. It's not adventure in the sense of Zelda, but adventure in the sense of a platform game. I guess it's kind of a novelty game... but don't quote me on that.

I agree with the recommendation to import Tales of Eternia, excellent game, kept me entertained for a good 25-27 hours.

For something unique and different, I can't recommend Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth any higher. Definitely one of the most original RPGs I've played in a very, very long time.

My highest recommendation is PoPoLoCrois though, it fulfils your every criteria. It has a very light hearted (Though occasionally very serious) story, it's got more of a strategy RPG style battle system but the game's easiness doesn't provide much strategy. It's incredibly absorbing and will leave you amazed. Despite it's problems (Especially it's horrendous load times), it's still one of my favourite RPGs of all time.

And if you haven't played Final Fantasy IX yet, go buy that on PSN. Right now. Yes, I mean RIGHT NOW, as soon as you read this.

When I say adventure game I mean like LOTS of text dialogue sequences with 2D character graphics appearing on a backdrop. Sometimes some puzzles and point and clicks. That's your average "Adventure" game. Some good examples would be: Myst, Phoenix Wright, Trace Memory/Another Code and The Longest Journey. I don't mean Action Adventure.

So more like a visual novel? Luckily for you, Persona 3 Portable has quite a bit of that. Though the problem is VNs are rare and the only two I can recall are P3P, not completely though, and Disgaea Infinite, which is a VN. Although before you play that you should play Disgaea: AiD first though.

It doesn't hurt to expand your gaming repertoire you know? Anyways i don't know much about these point and clicks but i'm going to prescribe an old school RPG for you, the original Persona remake on PSN is definitely worth a buy and it hasn't got those stupid American edits, it's legit.

I will look into Persona 3 and Tales of Eternia... Possibly Disgea as well... After I finish (most) of my playlist in my signature

Although I don't have many PSP games myself, I can only reccommend my favourite PSP series; Monster Hunter. Although it doesn't really have much of a story, I think it makes up for that with fantastic graphics, HUGE variety in weapons and armour that you can make, and really good co-op multiplayer.

I know you said you wanted one with a story, but I though I'd suggest this one anyway. Hope you find a game you like!
