Hey there folks, welcome to the start of a whole new let's replay! Resi 4 was always one of my favourite games and with October coming up, it's time to kick start the Halloween month with this!

Resident Evil 4 was made by Capcom and Criware and is a survival horror mixed with incredibly heavy action elements.

I just love the cast and the story. To me, the best stories are those that are relatively simple but told in an incredibly effective way; to me, that describes Resident Evil 4 perfectly :).

So, I fancied replaying this game in particular for Halloween since the PS4 version was recently released and it felt like a sign. I was swaying between Resi 0 and Resi 4 but this ended up winning lol. To make it different from when we played the PS3 version before, we're going for professional difficulty this time; it's gonna be a hell of a challenge peoples! ;)

Here's the opening:
Along with the Youtube playlist if you fancy it:
Thanks for watching! I hope you look forward to what's to come because I'm really excited to show to you, once again, what it is I love about this game :).

P.S.
Around about half of the game has been recorded already since I seemed to struggle with trying to keep completely up to date with Golden Sun. Hopefully this will help a hell of a lot :).

Episode 1 - Welcome To El Pueblo!

https://youtu.be/uyQaneKbkq4

Hey there folks, we're entering the small, Spanish village that holds a good many secrets! I find this the perfect start to a horror game: the mystery, the innocent-looking villagers (granted, not for long in this case lmao), the humour before it all kicks off. I remember being in sixth form and playing this for the first time; people say this ain't true horror...this whole opening section and buildup used to creep me the hell out at 16/17 :s.

There are a few little secrets in the start that are pretty easily missable. Try going backwards at the very start...

Thanks for watching folks! Next time, we'll see just how they play Bingo in Spain 0_0.

P.S. I feel like there's blur when turning a lot? I've rendered the next episode and it seems to stop when I go down to 720p. I think it's a difference in properties, between the recording resolution and the resolution I was trying to render it in. I think it'll look better next time. Gimme a shout if you think otherwise, if ya would :).

Episode 2 - Mendez's Wardrobe

https://youtu.be/AqZKDWHiUyY

Hey there folks, welcome to the farm! Plenty of counterattacking cows and egg-laying chickens to chase after in this part lmao! It also has the start of the blue medallion sidequest, where you need to collect 10 out of 15 of them for a decent free gun :).

Not only that, but we also meet Luis Sera, one of my favourite ever Resi characters, along with Chief Mendez; the big cheese :gasp2:. He takes cares of the village and makes sure the plan goes ahead around here ;).

Thanks for watching folks! See you next time for chapter 1-2! :lew:

Episode 3 - Fear The Needles

https://youtu.be/QGHx717LAd4

Hey there folks, welcome to all of chapter 1-2! This chapter part involves a wee bit of shooty action while looking for two parts of the key to escape the area :s. We also go for a spot of fishing and head on over to a house in the middle of nowhere; it's a lovely place with whispers. Lots of whispers 0_0. We should really be worrying about what's behind the door though...

Thanks for watching peoples! See you next time for a new type of enemy that adds so much tension to the game :'(.

P.S. Don't look under the merchant's clothes. He's actually very much like Vivi under there 0_0.

Episode 4 - The Chainsaw Massacre

https://youtu.be/ECk_ePuNlK4

Hey there folks, it's time to meet possibly the most iconic enemy to come out of resi 4: the chainsaw ganado! He's a lovely chap who is so shy that he covers his face :(.

Don't worry little guy, let us help you take that bag off. Um...put the chainsaw down please. It's rude :/.

We also make our way through the cemetery and finally find the church that supposedly holds Ashley! We won't be able to see if that's true for a wee while though since the door is locked and the key is...well, it's quite a way away lol.

Thanks for watching folks! See you next time for a bit of lake crossing. Relaxing stuff ;).

Episode 5 - Del Lagos' Lunch

https://youtu.be/L0Xvfdq6E-M

Hey there folks! Welcome to the lake! The fish are ever so slightly freaky. I mean...one of them are. Meet Del Lagos :s.

Other than that charming, toothpaste-free boss, we also check out the swamp/marsh! It's a great little area to fight in and is strangely memorable for a swamp. I normally hate these dank places in games but this one has a fast pace to it and makes the shooting frenzy that bit more interesting :).

Thanks for watching! We'll be moving onto chapter 2 next time and god knows...it ain't gonna be pretty ;).

P.S. If only those policemen came with us :/.

Episode 6 - Meet The Ballistics

https://youtu.be/CuX3tqCHWSk

Hey peoples, welcome to chapter 2! This is where the standard enemies start to become more troublesome (as if they weren't before lmao).

This chapter part has a tonne of good stuff actually. From the dam, to the el gigante, to the introduction of the wolves, to the church itself! Is Ashley there though? It'd be gutting if we went all that way to get the key and she wasn't there ha.

Thanks for watching folks! See you in a wee bit! :)

Episode 7 - Cabin In The Woods

https://youtu.be/aStXLJKLWQw

~The death toll is rising~

Hey peoples, here's our first chapter part where we get Ashley as a partner! To me, she adds some much needed survival horror elements to the game; she's weak, she can't fight, she relies entirely on freaking the player out when they were probably already stressed enough to let her get caught :s. Without Ashley, it would be a pure shooter right through, almost, so unlike a lot of people, I'm really glad she's around :).

Other than that, this episode has a tonne of backtracking, but this time the enemies are tougher and there's also a storm surrounding the village areas so it feels very different from the first time around ;).

Finally, we head on over to a mysterious cabin in the middle of the woods and of course...that's just gonna go swimmingly lmao. I love that part but boy does it make me stressed. As you can probably tell in the vid lol :/. We get to fight alongside Luis, by the way! It's the only point in the game where he's an NPC instead of only being in cutscenes so it's interesting just for that. Something that I didn't show off that's related to our Luis, is that if you shoot him a few times during the whole cabin scenario, he will turn on you and kill you. Fair enough really lmao.

P.S. Apologies for the loud volume. I'll try and sort that for next time :). Turn down the volume to not have your eardrums bleed ha.

P.P.S. During the cutscene at the cabin, look carefully at the enemy faces. One or two of them are so derpy it's unreal lmao :lew:.

Episode 8 - Bad With Choices

https://youtu.be/xQXGUeHsLuk

Hey there folks, how've ya been? This time around, we get to choose our next path through the village. Shall we take on the Bella Sisters on the left path or the el gigante on the right path? The left path is harder and more time consuming but it does have the more unique enemies that you won't see anywhere else in the game. The right path is the easier option but takes a bit of luck when trying to avoid the guy.

Decisions, decisions...I just can't choose one path!

Thanks for watching folks! See you next time for a bit of skiing! ;)

Episode 9 - Mendez Has His Eye On You

https://youtu.be/1jaXgxNgDSA

Hey folks, don't play around with those pitchforks! You'll poke your eyes out 0_0.

Lmao in this vid, we're taking on the chief of the village in an abandoned barn: Chief Mendez! He's bloody tough on pro :/.

Other than him, we get to check out the ski lifts (a little bit weird to have those in this old-fashioned village lmao). They're such a fun part :).

Thanks for watching peoples! Since the village is now finished, we'll be starting the castle next time! See you there :).

P.S. For those of you who wanted to see Higurashi's next arc, it still hasn't been released on Steam due to "technical difficulties". We'll carry on with Resi 4 on a daily basis until it's released :). No new release date yet, by the way lol.

Episode 10 - I'm Ramon Salazar!

https://youtu.be/FnZa-NEzEw0

Hey there folks, here comes the castle! If you thought the village was dangerous, be prepared for Salazar's castle! Speaking of Salazar, he's possibly my favourite Resi villain of all time. Him or Alexia Ashford anyways :).

This episode is mostly about the castle gate, the cannon, the catapults etc. We'll be kicking things off inside properly next time ;). Thanks so much for watching! :)

Episode 11 - Eyes Sewn Shut

https://youtu.be/Kpg9xIE-w8I

Hey there folks, there's still a tonne left of chapter 3-1 and it's all in this vid :).

First up, we have the prisoner! He's an interesting fellow. Why did they sew up his eyes? Who knows :/. We also take on my least favourite room in the game...it's especially bad on pro mode :/. Finally, we take on the start of a brand new sidequest: the shooting gallery! Those rooms will get you bottle caps (good for collectors and a trophy) but more importantly: money :D.

Thanks for watching folks! We'll have to try and save Ashley next time :s.

P.S. I'm no good at sewing but bloody hell. Even I know you don't sew your eyes in order to fix stuff :/. Silly prisoner.

Episode 12 - Spit In The Sewers

https://youtu.be/TgJO9tDTTcU

Hey people, here come the sewers! While most games have the most boring sewer stages/areas, resi 4 does things a bit differently. Introducing: Novistador! Apparently, these invisible guys are an experiment on humans using different plagas methods. That's about all I know about them really. In terms of gameplay, make sure to look out for the drool and use kick when they get close and you're pretty much good to go. Still tense as hell though :/.

Other than that, we check out a ritual down by where we lost Ashley (yeah, we went full circle lmao). I've never really known what that ritual is all about but...there we go ha. Finally, we take on a turret in order to obtain the gallery key! That's a fun part. You can actually skip the turret altogether if you want but I find there's only a 50/50 chance of me being able to do it since the red enemy is really bloody fast lmao.

Thanks for watching! See you next time for the gallery and more :).

Episode 13 - Painting The Roses Red

https://youtu.be/4eEjPpoTQXE

Hey folks, today we're:

  • Painting the gallery red with deadly paintings.
  • Painting the next room red with blood of our enemies.
  • Painting the roses red in the castle labyrinth.

Oh! We also get to meet a certain individual who we saw a glimpse of way back in chapter 1-3. Funnily enough...she wears red ;).

Thanks for watching! See you next time for a wee bit more Ashley hunting! :D

P.S. Say goodbye to the wolves! Thankfully, we don't need to worry about them anymore :).

Episode 14 - Sadler's Success Story

https://youtu.be/-ihGGP-AYUY

Hey there folks, what we have here is the entirety of chapter 3-3! It's only a short part too :).

For the most part, there's some more castle fighting, but we do find ourselves a handy little rocket launcher! We also get to take on another prisoner in this year's biggest cage fight ;).

Other than that, there's a big plot moment that I'll leave for you to check out :s.

Thanks for watching! See you next time for chapter 3-4: Ashley's biggest moment :)!

Episode 15 - Leon, Don't Help!

https://youtu.be/D9_ZU7iJS0Q

Hey there folks, while Ashley may have some help at the start, this chapter part is more about her surviving on her own 0_0.

That's what makes this chapter parts one of the best in the game imo; there are no weapons (do you count throwing a lantern at an enemy using a weapon?). It's kinda creepy in that way :s. Anyways, we take on the tile-sliding puzzle (something I'm always awful at) along with so much else. She doesn't have such an easy ride considering she can't even climb down a ladder normally :lew:.

Thanks for watching folks! See you next time for chapter 4 and back to a bit of "normality" ;).

Episode 16 - Kings And Queens

https://youtu.be/3QhV9YC9oJM

Hey peoples, chapter 4 is starting! :)

There's a tonne to do in order to gain the royal grails. Before that though, we check out an optional room for treasure and a free magnum! It's a pretty amazing weapon too, especially when fully upgraded via the exclusive option :s.

Anyways, plenty of traps are laid around the castle, ready to stop us from obtaining these unique keys. From spiked ceilings, to rotating...fan vehicles? I'm not sure what they are but they ain't friendly lmao :lew:.

There's also the lava room, showing off the most bizarre of Salazar's tastes in decor. That's one of my favourite parts of the game actually and it nets you the lion ornament (the last of the 3 that we need to actually move past the entrance hall!).

Finally, we take on the 2nd round of target practice. Lots of monies! :D

Thanks for watching folks! See you next time when we delve a bit deeper into the castle! ;)

Episode 17 - Time For The Clocktower!

https://youtu.be/O3tjWzfJaP0

Hey peoples, we're gonna make use of our royal grails this time and see what else is in store!

From the hive, to a lovely kidnapping (god damn it Ashley lmao), to the clocktower, to the last of the prisoners...there's a lot to have trouble with in Pro mode :/. By the way, two prisoners at once is a nightmare if you don't remove one of them quickly enough.

Thanks for watching! The rest of the chapter will be with you soon! :)

P.S. During the part with the prisoners, I always used to think that it was walking off the central carpet that caused the doors to lock. I used to try and run through the enemies only for the doors to lock anyway and wonder why :/. Don't judge me; I was but a wee midget :sad2:.

Episode 18 - Giant Soup

https://youtu.be/-olkR2P7tDA

Hey there folks, this time around we have the rest of chapter 4-1 and all of chapter 4-2, all in one neat little package ;).

There are so many things going on this time that it's hard to say just what happens in a quick way :/. We have the 3rd round of target practice, along with a meeting with Salazar! He seems displeased though so we're off to the sewers :'(. Maybe that boss will pose a challenge for us?

We also take on the mines under the castle, where our last encounter with the el gigante is! There are two of them actually, which is pretty terrifying if you don't use a special gimmick for that area ;).

Finally, we check in on the novistadors one last time while trying to find the light! That's actually a really hard part on pro :/.

Oh oh oh! We meet a new villain that'll be coming into play during the 3rd and final area of the game! They sure introduced him early lmao.

I almost also forgot to mention that complete a new combinable treasure! The crown has a jewel that's really easy to miss but it also has a jewel that's almost impossible to miss so I guess it all kinda evens itself out lol.

Thanks for watching! See next time for chapter 4-3 where we get to see what's at the top of that lift :).

Episode 19 - A Sacrifice To The Lion

https://youtu.be/bKY5sNDqvJA

A'right chucks? Today we're heading under the castle to find a stone to enter the castle church. All of 4-3 is down in the catacombs and involves tonnes of dust and dirt and...minecarts lmao. There's plenty here to do and see anyways so I'll leave it all to you. I will say though that this is the last that you'll see of the chainsaw ganados. Happy! :lew:

Thanks for watching mah chucklettes! See you next time for the last chapter part of the castle! :)
