It looks like Square Enix has finally, and quietly, pulled the plug on the PlayStation 3 version of Last Remnant. The latest issue of the company's "Square Enix Magazine" retail promotional magazine does not list the title in its upcoming releases calendar.
The issue in question is vol.13, which features Final Fantasy XIII on the cover. A release calendar in the back of the issue lists titles of note from the company and its publishing/distribution partners (Ubisoft, Disney, and Taito). Last Remnant 2 is not listed in the date TBA area, which includes such games as The Third Birthday, NieR Gestalt/Replicant, and Front Mission Evolved.
There are a couple of things that should be noted before contacting your local representative about this issue. First, Last Remnant still appears in the PS3 release calendar at the Square Enix official site. Additionally, the game appears in the release calendar of the latest Weekly Famitsu.
The PS3 version of Last Remnant previously made headlines in August when Square Enix CEO Yoichi Wada made some subtle suggestions that the game would not make it out.
The 360 version of the game was released a little over one year ago, and was followed closely by a PC version.
