Creativity strikes again! :gasp2:

Premise draft is as follows:

Many are the secrets of life, and of these secrets, there are none more mystifying than what awaits us at life’s closure. What follows death? This question has plagued humanity for centuries, for it is not one that can truly be answered by any who live, and dead men, as all know, tell no tales. As the body decays to dust, what becomes of the soul, of the very core of the human? Some believe that the soul is reincarnated as something else, whilst others belief that their soul is chained to the earth upon their death if they do not fulfil their purpose in life, whatever that may be. Some people hold out hope that they will find something better – or fear something worse – than this mortal coil once their body has expired. Others still do not believe in a soul at all, and perhaps it is the belief in the soul that determines its existence. Perhaps it is belief that determines the fate of the soul. As there is no returning once one has crossed that threshold, it is impossible for the living to tell, and for the dead, there is nothing else for them other than what they personally experience.

Life is often described as a journey, but the real journey begins with its closure. Whether there are multiple paths or not, there are souls who will find that the afterlife is not as they expected: this is especially true in the case of those who believe they were destined for Heaven. There are indeed occasions, rare that they are, when those who are intended for Heaven and the divine embrace it offers do not quite reach it, and end up…somewhere else. Somewhere that could only be described as Hell, where naught but suffering exists; and every pleasure is tainted with unspeakable pain that the living mind could not possibly begin to comprehend; the place that they had feared they would end up instead. A place of insanity, a place of misery. The weakest amongst those who end up here, and those who knew that this was their destination, have no chance in resisting its forces; they are quickly chained in eternal suffering. But for those who wind up in such a dimension by accident, or are strong enough and clever enough to resist the forces that govern the afterlife, there exists the possibility for redemption, and the afterlife they believe they deserve…

At the moment (this may change, I'm still debating on this, hence why the title is "Afterlife RP" and not "Hell RP") this will be an RP set in Hell. Essentially, your character will be a soul that was truly destined for Heaven (or so you believe) who ended up in Limbo and who will be making their way through the circles of Hell to confront Satan and, hopefully, break free from his grasp, to attain the afterlife that you deserved.

If you've played Dante's Inferno, it'll be something like that in terms of your objectives, only with a lot more intrigue, because you won't be travelling alone. As the primary inspiration for this RP is the Divine Comedy (although rest assured, I have my own story twists...if you've RPed with me before, you'll know that I never start these things if I don't have a definite story in my head, and I always have twists to make things more interesting for people) and references to Dante's Inferno are unavoidable, I may start the RP in Purgatory instead, in which case the premise will change only slightly, and you'll be climbing a mountain, rather than making your way through a pit.

But of course, I'd never make it that simple. In order to survive Satan's trials and various minions, your character will be forced to forge a pact with a demon that personifies one of the Seven Deadly Sins. Each demon will grant the wielder a particular power, although they will need to fight it's corrupting influence throughout the RP, and when characters reach the Circle native to that Sin, the demon within them will take them over entirely. Whilst they will be driven to reach the next Circle as well, they are personifications of Sin, and will attempt to get their travelling companions to partake in Sin - so, in the circle of Lust, Lust will try and seduce others. Each demon believes that it they can reach the lowest levels of Hell in a pure soul, they too will escape Hell, but of course, they don't want any of their brethren doing that, so they'll be trying to corrupt the others. If any of the characters commits one of a sin whilst they are in Hell, then they're out of the game, essentially: they belong in Hell, and Hell is where they will stay. The problem is, none of the characters know which Sin they have bonded with, or when it will take them over, so there will be a lot of party tension as a result. Obviously, I'd let people choose their own sins in the sign-up thread, i.e. not here, so don't try and lay claim to a sin.

Obviously the circles of Hell are big places, and everyone won't travel together all at the same time, so we'd probably end up splitting off into smaller groups and occasionally meeting up. The primary villain for each Circle of Hell would be the demon bonded to the individual, but of course there will be a main villain. I'll say no more on that, though.

There is the potential to make this a trilogy if people are interested and we start in Hell, because not only do I have plenty of source material for inspiration, but I also have my own ideas, unsurprisingly. In short, I could make this a stand-alone RP, or I could expand it, depending on the level of interest. We'd have to see how we went, and how many people succumbed to sin along the way. xD

There are six character slots, as there are seven deadly sins, and I will be taking one (almost certainly Pride) for my own character. I'm only going to allow one character per person at the moment, although there is potential for some expansion on that; I was debating on having the Four Horseman in it as more direct threats, and to give the politics of Hell a little more...uh, life. There is also the potential for Fallen Angel antagonists. I'm a flexible person with my plans: if you're interested and I invite you to take part and you have an interesting idea, the chances of me refusing you are very slim.

Again, this is just an interest check thread. Don't make any plans to claim specific sin, or any ideas for character development/interaction, or anything like that. Just say if you're interested or not...and obviously, if you have any questions, I'll take them here as well~

...and, on a minor note, I will NOT be running or joining any more RPs if this one kicks off. I'm at my limit here. xD

well I'm interested! Your RPs are always exciting and this sounds excellent so far. I even like the idea of the 4 horsemen (even if they don't make it into the RP) ;) count me interested.
